29. August 2009 by Glenn.
Happy Birthday to John McCain… and Me!
I received a poll from the Republican National committee telling me that I was “chosen” to represent my district. What a crock of crap. In any case, I filled it out and sent them a letter back with the poll, which you may be interested in reading. I have enclosed it as an attachment in today’s newsletter.
Quote of the Day:
“The essence of immorality is the tendency to make an exception of one’s self.”
Jane Addams, American social worker and Nobel Peace Laureate (1860-1935)
AMEN, JANE!.
Observation of the Day:
I need to say this before you read on: I watched Cheney talking about the Obama administration and he was speaking as though they were just another democratic regime; business as usual. It struck me that I don’t think that the republicans get who they are really facing here. Either that, or I am way off base on my protestations.
My defense is that history has forecast every move that Obama has made; so I do have history on my side. Hitler, Mao Tse Tsung, Hugo Chavez all used these various strategies to take over their respective countries. Think Obama is too nice of a guy to be part of this? Hitler was adored by the population of Germany and was a messiah of sorts to them… in the beginning. You know how that turned out…don’t you? So, read on… or not…
By the way, did you think that your representatives wrote the stimulus package? Well, apparently that’s not so. According to a new report, a man by the name of Jeff Jones wrote it. Who is Jeff Jones, you ask?
Well, Jeff Jones seems to be an accomplished person. He was the co-founder of the Weather Underground; you remember, the group that robbed banks and killed people and bombed structures in the 60’s. As such, he was an accomplice of Bill Ayers, the Weather Underground guy that Obama says he didn’t know, notwithstanding photos of them together.
Obama has said that if you want to know about his programs, look at the people around him. OK. We can do that.
First, we have a communist revolutionary and convicted felon in Jeff Jones.
In Van Jones, the “Green” Czar, we have an avowed communist and cofounder of the communist organization “Storm”. Van Jones has been quoted as saying that he is in complete agreement with the revolutionary tactics of Mao Tse Tsung. He also has a criminal record.
Interestingly, the administration has stone walled queries regarding whether they took these guys criminal records into account before appointing them.
And the new Czar at the FTC. He is on record as saying that he is not sure that it is a good thing that people have unfettered access to information and he is also the architect of the advertiser boycotts that Van Jones is using against Glenn Beck and anyone else that disagrees with them.
Furthermore, as I noted in a previous newsletter, he has authored the plan to charge media outlets an annual fee equal to their entire annual operating budget and he will give that money to Public Radio and other outlets (Air America?) to balance what is being said on the air waves. Well folks, that pretty much eliminates any station that opposes the administration. No station (or business) can live with that kind of taxation. So there will soon only be government news outlets.
Which brings us to the newly revised bill giving Obama the power to shut down the internet in an emergency.
Ostensibly, the bill is to protect government and the power grid from being hacked by an enemy. However…
The internet is the last bastion of oppressed citizens for organizing against a dictatorial government. The bill is written so badly that one could designate anything to constitute an emergency.
I have spent my life writing, reading and negotiating contracts. I can say without fear of contradiction that the most damaging terms of any written instrument are those that are not included in the body of the instrument. And you could run several freight trains through the holes in this bill.
So once we have shuttered the general media, and cut off of the internet, the government’s control of information dissemination is total, for all practical purposes.
Can’t believe that this is happening in this country? You damn well better believe it or you could wake up some morning a lot more sorry than you are now. You will be longing for the days of a good ol’ capitalistic recession.
Is this the kind of legacy that you want to leave for your kids?
And how about Obama’s Americorp? He is talking about this as a civilian law enforcement agency, trained and supplied as well as the military. The administration tries to spin this down but still admits that it will be military in nature. He is proposing to fund this with a Half Trillion Dollars!!! It has been mentioned that ACORN might be put in charge of putting this together. Don’t currently know if that is true.
The question is, why does he need this civilian army? One reason could be because the military is sworn to uphold the constitution, that’s why. They will not obey the president if it conflicts with the Constitution. Also, the Military is prohibited from operating on U.S. soil. The Americorps would be beholden to only the president.
Who was the last leader to do this? Hitler, of course, with his “Brown Shirts”. Do you really think the Germans then were any more stupid than we are today? Most of them couldn’t believe it until it was too late, either. Just like us.
The difference is that we have history to provide some guidance. Let’s not be doomed to repeat it.
You need to understand one thing. The Constitution is not worth the paper it is written on unless people stand up to support it! The time for standing up and supporting it is more limited than you think. Only the first few changes have to be put in place and then the government can do the rest by force, and one of the first things that they will do is revoke the Constitution. That is pretty much how history tells us that it is done.
Don’t count on the republicans to do anything. They are basically dead from the ass, both ways. That is why I wrote the letter to them that is attached hereto.
If you don’t stand up and be counted now, your right to do that may be lost forever.
My liberal friends will tell you that I am just paranoid. Except that I don’t think that I am being persecuted. It begs the old question that if someone is out to kill you are you still paranoid? I really hope that I am wrong. Then I could go back to being a political slacker. I could save myself 4 or 5 hours a day and a lot of aggravation.
I am just saying that based on history, I think we have a problem of the size and consequence that this country has never faced before. General Douglas MacArthur said in the early 50’s that this country would be brought down from within. I think the time has come.
I guess one of the things that is really concerning me is the people that Obama has associated with and is surrounding himself with. These are not mainstream people.
My grandparents and my parents always told me that the people that someone hangs with pretty much define who that person is. I have never seen that observation to be untrue in all of my years.
If you doubt me, fine. But please, study a little history before you make up your mind. It is infinitely better to be informed rather than just opinionated.
One example of freedoms being removed:
http://www.liveleak.com/view?if_1251502508
Teddy Kennedy:
I watched part of Teddy’s wake yesterday afternoon. I have to give the Kennedy’s one thing. They are second to none in eulogizing one of their own. I wanted to send flowers.
I did have to chuckle, though.
Chris Dodd told of a phone call from Teddy as Dodd was coming out of surgery, recently.
He said that Teddy told him that “between going through prostate cancer surgery and going to town halls, you certainly made the right choice.”
Howard Dean comes clean:
When Howard was asked why there has been no mention of tort reform in the drive to cut health care costs, he responded shockingly honest…well, semi-honest.. He said that the reason that tort reform hasn’t come up is that the administration doesn’t want to fight the lawyers at the same time that they are fighting everyone else.
Howard; could an additional reason be that the American trial lawyers Assn. which happens to be headquartered in Chicago, gives literally millions of dollars to the DNC every year?
I get chastised:
Last night, I was chastised, somewhat severely, by a liberal friend who I happen to have a tremendous amount of respect for, regarding the fact that I am “too intelligent” to buy into the so called death panel provision in the health care bill.
Now, I understand that the term death panel is a little over the top and he emphasized that by throwing Sarah Palin in my face.
However, the fact of the matter is that, while no board is going to sit there and rule that this person dies and this one doesn’t, there is a passive euthanization to all of this. Rahm Emanuel’s brother, who is an Obama medical advisor, has developed a formula, a sort of cost-benefit analysis for health care, that pretty much leaves out the very young and the very old from medical treatment. (under 2 and over 65 is my understanding).
My point was that if a member of the editorial board of the left wing Washington Post wrote that the so called end of life counseling (paying doctors a spiff for successful counseling) was a terrible idea and should not be included, and then the Democrats removed the so called “death panels” from the Senate version of the bill, wasn’t that prima facie evidence that they existed?
I still ended up being too intelligent to believe that.
