September 30, 2009 Breaking News

Observations:

We certainly have a bunch today.

I don’t know about you, but I consider the economy a hell of a lot more urgent issue than health care, cap and trade and the Olympics in Chicago, for crying out loud.

What is the matter with the President? 9.7% unemployment and rising, real inflation appears to be in the 15-18% range due to the monetizing of the debt, tax collections falling precipitously, the biggest drop since 1932, the FDIC in the red and wanting the banks to cough up an additional $45 Billion in premiums in advance, by the end of this year, when best estimates are that the banks are facing a $53 Billion hit next year alone from bad loans.

So the marginal banks cough up their portion of the advance premium and then fail because they go into negative capitalization because of the bad loans. I am failing to see the genius in this.

The president needs to remember those immortal words that the Clintons spoke:

“It’s the economy, Stupid!”

Contrary to what congress is telling you, the public option is not dead. Remember when I warned you several weeks ago when people started celebrating the death of the public option and Obama said he didn’t need it in his health care bill; and then he came back in spades for the public option. Well, just because the Senate finance committee nixed the public option yesterday, doesn’t mean that it isn’t alive and well!

Look for Harry Reid to try to pull some chicanery to get it back on the senate floor for a vote and also, expect collusion between him and Pelosi to cook up some other nefarious way to sneak it past. Expect that the Pelosi Posse could even try to slip the public option into another unrelated bill and get it passed, since they are not allowing congress time to read their bills, let alone their constituents!

Speaking of the public option, did you hear that the GAO audited Medicare prescriptions for two years in 5 states and uncovered about $65,000,000,00 in fraud and abuse. 5 states! Add the doctors fees to that and it potentially runs into the hundreds of millions of dollars.

This discovery is both good and bad. Obama will jump on this as an example of the savings he can achieve in Medicare and therefore he should be able to rip the heart out of Medicare. My question is, we haven’t even got this fixed yet and we don’t know if the government can even fix it. Do you want these same types of people running your health care?

I recently answered a column in our left wing newspaper wherein in response to one statement by the columnist, I said that this is a nation of laws. The

people have not given bureaucrats the authority to enforce, or not enforce laws, based on political expediency! Well, it’s happening as we speak folks.

Our controversial Sherriff Joe has had a long running feud with the mayor of Phoenix, “Urban Phil” Gordon who has promoted Phoenix as a sanctuary city by welcoming illegal aliens and not prosecuting them when they are caught. Catch and release, I think they call it.

Sheriff Joe had no such sentiment. To stop Sheriff Joe from making illegals uncomfortable in Phoenix, “Flash” Gordon enlisted the help of then governor, Janet “Nappy” Napolitano (Now director of Homeland Security)

It should be noted that Sheriff Joe’s deputies have been trained by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) for immigration work, that Sheriff Joe was under contract and working hand in hand with the state Department of Public Safety in immigration sweeps and also working with ICE.

After a letter went out from the DPS to Sheriff Joe congratulating him on the professional job his deputies had done working with the DPS and that the next year’s funding had been approved for the Sheriff’s office and that DPS was looking forward to continuing to work with Sheriff Joe, Napolitano suddenly would not sign the authorization and pulled the funding. Of course, Sheriff Joe said something to offend Napolitano, probably pointing out the political BS that she was pulling.

Since then, Urban Phil has been commuting to DC, which had the result of congers starting an investigation into Sheriff Joe, at Napolitano’s request, and eventually the FBI and the UN! Nappy was pulling out the big guns. Well, so far, no wrongdoing has been found on the Sheriff’s part.

Today, ICE has suddenly pulled the pin on a new agreement as it was due to be signed, citing the need for Sheriff Joe to only catch and release illegals unless they have committed a felony in Arizona.

This has Napolitano’s fingerprints all over it! Folks, they are not enforcing your laws anymore if they interfere with their political agenda! If that isn’t malfeasance in office, it should be! How do you feel about crime at the federal level? It seems to be happening every day with this administration!

And what is this about the president taking his family and flying off in Air Force one to lobby for the Olympics to be held in Chicago? I expect that this little jaunt will cost the taxpayers at least a million dollars, if not two million, given the size of his entourage. If Mayor Daily wants the president to go to Copenhagen, then Mayor Daily needs to pay the president’s expenses! Some say that the deal was already done and that Obama’s trip to Copenhagen was a vacation coupled with a great photo op.

New euphemism of the day: A spokesman for the administration, in answering questions by the press as to why Obama has suddenly barred the press from accessing inmates at Gitmo, answered a question and in doing so, called the inmates in Gitmo

“Refugees”!!!! Can you believe that? They’re not terrorists, suddenly? They’re Refugees? Kum bye yah, my fanny!

Obama has now set a meeting with Iran for next week. What can possibly be discussed? Obama threatened Iran at Pittsburgh when the new uranium enrichment plant became public. So what did Iran do? They tested a new missile the next day!! Apparently, Kum bye yah doesn’t’ work with the Iranians.

I have another question regarding this issue. In the newspaper that I read, it said that intelligence sources had been watching this facility for sometime; I got the impression, a couple of years. If that is the case, then Obama and probably France and England had to know about it. How come it was ignored all through the Security Council meeting and not revealed until the G-20 meeting the next week in Pittsburgh?

If I had to guess, as the new president of this nation and the Security Council, Obama doesn’t like things messy and since this type of thing might reflect badly on his image of controlling all of these things with ease, they put it off for a week.

Little dribs and drabs of information that I am picking up here and there are leading me to believe that world leaders are beginning to reassess Obama as a rookie, and worse, a rookie whose own arrogance won’t allow him to see where he is going wrong. Sarkozy of France just tore into him for his bumbling on Iran. Pretty unprecedented move in the sphere of world politics. Of course, I have been calling him and the 4th grade class that he runs, rookies for nearly a year. Unfortunately, they are dishonest rookies.

Although, I do have to give credit where credit is due. Obama did tell us during the campaign that he was going to fundamentally change this country. It should come as no surprise to us.

Obama has indicated that he will break the financial back of this country if he has to in order to install a Marxist regime. If it hasn’t been clear to you up ‘til now, when the country’s back is broken, it is highly likely that your financial back will be broken right along with the country’s. C’est le guerre, children.

Dishonesty, Intimidation, Hypocrisy and Medicare Advantage:

by Newt Gingrich The editorial writers at the New York Times thought they were getting the White House’s back when they defended cuts to Medicare Advantage last week. In fact, they were validating the blatant dishonesty of administration and congressional officials pushing for the cuts. In their editorial last Sunday, the Times writers revealed in stunning fashion the lies that have been used to convince increasingly skeptical seniors that their Medicare Advantage benefits won’t be sacrificed to pay for government-run health care.

Dishonesty: Cuts Won’t Affect Medicare Advantage Participants

In one breath, the Times claimed the effect of Medicare Advantage cuts will be “modest”:

“Although Republican rhetoric has triggered fears that Medicare Advantage enrollees might lose their coverage entirely if private plans drop out of the system, the real effect of the bill would likely be modest on average.”

Then, literally on the next line, the Times contradicts itself, and stumbles inadvertently on to the truth:

“The value of an enrollee’s added benefits would shrink by more than half from current levels but would not disappear; they would still be worth about $500 a year in 2019 (emphasis added).”…

I thought I would include this excerpt from a column. What is so amazing to me is that Obama and the 4th grade class literally threatened Humana in particular and all other insurance companies in general not to comment publicly on the administration’s health care proposals, period! Or they would face federal investigations! Is this really America? I don’t think so. But just hold on, it will get much worse in a hurry!

Folks, I don’t know what the hell we are waiting for but unless we start waking up and waking up others, and making ourselves heard, we are going to wake up in the near future having the government making all of our life choices for us (Under penalty of law) and our children and grand children.

This is so bad that Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) subsequently introduced legislation in the Senate Finance Committee to protect the 1st Amendment rights of private insurance companies to criticize health care reform proposals.

That is how clueless the republicans are! It hasn’t a prayer of passing! Free speech is the antithesis of the progressives!

A little something to think about:

IRVING TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood’s children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.

Regulators who oversee childcare, however, don’t see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she’d be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.

It’s already here folks! Remember, there are at least three or four governments to make rules for every person in this nation!

More about the H1N1 Vaccine:

N.Y. Health Care Workers Revolt Over H1N1 Vaccine

Saying They Should Be Given A Choice, Employees Rally In Albany, Around State, Chant “No Forced Shots!”

STONYBROOK, NY; CBS: Protesters Hold Signs That Read: “The State Doesn’t Own My Body’”

They’re upset over an ultimatum from the health department. Workers are being told to either get the swine flu vaccine or lose their jobs.

See how easy it is for the government(s) to fall into giving ultimatums to people once the Administration showed them how? Since they are in government and you are not, they feel that they must know better and life would be a lot easier if they could just order you to do their bidding and not having to deal with a lot of carping. Apparently, no one told them that Democracy can get messy. If you don’t believe that, ask the British.

The Feds give us fair warning:

WASHINGTON (AP) — To prevent inflation from taking off, the Federal Reserve will need to start boosting interest rates quickly and aggressively once the economy is back on firmer footing, Fed officials warned Tuesday.

“I expect that when it comes time to tighten monetary policy, my colleagues and I will move with an alacrity that, if needed, will be equal in speed and intensity” to when the Fed was slashing rates to battle the recession and the financial crisis, said Richard Fisher, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Although Fisher has a reputation for being one of the Fed’s toughest inflation fighters, it marked the second such warning by a central bank official in recent days. Fed member Kevin Warsh on Friday said the central bank will need to move swiftly when the time comes to raise rates.

This could be a real jolt for us and if they mishandle this, it could plunge us right back into a recession. It will have an effect on the economy like a rope has on a man when he suddenly comes to the end of it, if you get my drift.

My greatest concern is, that due to the administration’s current monetary policy, or lack thereof, we could start seeing rapid inflation before we start coming out of the recession. It’s called Stagflation. Jimmy Carter, so far, has been the only president in memory go gift us with Stagflation. If that happens and they pull the trigger on interest rates, it will really make a bad situation much worse.

I am thinking about hitting several charities about setting up soup kitchens for us.

Global Warming:

Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. Northeast may have the coldest winter in a decade because of a weak El Nino, a warming current in the Pacific Ocean, according to Matt Rogers, a forecaster at Commodity Weather Group.

Well, the upper plains states have had two consecutive record breaking winters, and summers (or lack of them) for that matter.

More political criminals:

NEW YORK – AP: Former Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was sentenced Tuesday to more than 24 years in prison by a judge who accused him of funding his fraud by manipulating the political process in a way that “strikes at the very core of our democracy.”

U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero sentenced the 58-year-old Hsu, who raised money for Hillary Rodham Clinton and others, to 20 years in prison for his guilty plea to fraud charges and another four years and four months in prison for his conviction at trial for breaking campaign finance laws.

What is it about democrats? Hillary’s big fund raiser is going to do 24 years, Charlie Rangel, who has now cheated on his taxes covering about a million dollars of unreported income (He will be fine. He is too well connected. Have you seen anything in the media about him lately? Of course not!)

And some of Obama’s staff and associates have criminal records. Are you seeing a pattern here? While the republicans are certainly no angels and I suspect the next criminal republican associate is waiting in the wings to be discovered, I don’t see that kind of a criminal element in the staffs and associates of any of the past republican presidents in the past 20 or so years. However, they did have Spiro Agnew back in the day.

September 29, 2009 Breaking News

Today’s news is shortened as we have the “20 things you need to know about the health care bill: as an attachment.  It is an article from the National review documenting misstatements by Obama concerning the bill.  I think you will find it enlightening. Observation(s) of the Day:I read a column this weekend by Leanord Pitts, a liberal commentator, regarding “lies” by the conservative right.According to Pitt, Sojourner, a faith based organization, accused Glenn Beck when he speculated that if a baby was born with Cerebral Palsy, such as his daughter was, and who has turned out to be a miracle person at 21, that the government would be empowered to euthanize it.  Sojourner says that ain’t so.  Leonard Pitts says Beck lies.

I know of no clauses in any of the health care bills that provide for an active government role in euthanizing individuals, young or old.  Much of the misunderstanding has come from exaggerations such as Sarah Palin calling the end of life counseling “death panels” and similar excesses by others.

I do not believe that exaggerations, such as this, do anyone any good and they tend to cloud our ability to conduct rational discourse.

That said, you should know that there is some basis in fact for some of those exaggerations.  In England and elsewhere, there are protocols wherein the government health care people are authorized to withhold care to older patients who are near death, or may not be able to recover, in the estimation of the staff.  In England, I believe it is called the Marie Curie protocol.  The killing of people under these programs is passive, the withholding of care, not active euthanization.

Some say that isn’t all bad.  When you have a terminally ill person with only a short time to live, perhaps you shouldn’t spend the money for hail Mary procedures which would not extend life or the quality of life by a reasonable amount. Nor should we perform cataract surgery, or other expensive and unrelated medical procedures on those people,  which happens in Medicare sometimes.  (Fraud by any other name is still fraud)

Things get messy, however, when hospitals, pinched by a lack of government funds, are faced with the choice of saving an elderly person’s life with an expensive surgery, when that person might only have a couple of years left after the surgery, or not giving them the surgery in order to save money.  A very passive act.  A hospital in England is being sued now for such an act, or lack thereof.  After all, a couple of years are a couple of years.

Teddy Kennedy’s insurance, I suspect, spent at least a million dollars to try to save his life, even though he was in his 70’s and diagnosed as terminal from the get-go. Unfortunately, we won’t have the congressional insurance.

Rahm Emanuel’s brother, Ezekiel, who is an Obama medical advisor, is on record as proposed a health care delivery system with priorities based on a bell curve. As in the typical bell curve, the most medical care is delivered at the top of the curve, or people in their 40’s.  Also, the bell curve calls for the least care to be delivered in the first couple years of life and in the last few years of life.

In this respect, Beck was partially correct in that the care that is daughter, as an infant got, may not be available to other infants born with Cerebral Palsy, or other severe issues under government health care.

This is an exceedingly difficult question and there does not appear to be a black and white answer, but only answers in shades of gray.  From a realistic standpoint, healthcare will probably have to be rationed because money will be in short supply.  I guess the problem I have is that I really don’t want a bureaucrat in charge of my health care, especially since the government won’t give me a choice..  Well, that and the fact that Obama is going to fund a good share of the health care by taking money from the Seniors.  Now, that upsets me! One other thing!  It is absolutely not true, as the administration and the progressives would have you believe, that there are 46 million people out there that can’t access health care.  They do what the illegal aliens do (come to think of it, I wonder if the 20 million illegals are part of that 46 million?); they go to the emergency room.  Since, I believe, 1969 it has been illegal for hospitals to turn people away that show up at the emergency room.  The hospitals are reimbursed by federal, state and local taxes, which we all pay.  So guess what folks?  We really don’t have the crisis in health care that you have been led to believe!  Could our health insurance program stand tweaking?  Of course it could.  But we should first study the issues and see if we can solve them through additional regulation of the insurance companies and maybe some tweaking of the current government programs.  But maybe that would be too rational.

Both Massachusetts and Tennessee’s universal health care programs have turned into absolute disasters for the states. Costs are escalating faster than the states can raise taxes on the citizens.   It would seem to me that maybe we should study what went wrong in those programs before we throw out our whole national health care program

I mean, do we have any right to expect that federal bureaucrats will manage the national health care with greater skill than state bureaucrats manage their much smaller state programs? Dems propose health care for legals and illegals, alike:WASHINGTON TIMES:  Fearful that they’re losing ground on immigration and health care, a group of House Democrats is pushing back and arguing that any health care bill should extend to all legal immigrants and allow illegal immigrants some access.

The Democrats, trying to stiffen their party’s spines on the contentious issue, say it’s unfair to bar illegal immigrants from paying their own way in a government-sponsored exchangeThe problem with this that by the time the bill gets done, the illegals either will get their health care for free, or Obama will have given them all amnesty.  He needs a larger base of people that he can bribe with taxpayer money to stay in power.

The hole in the liberal’s argument that illegals should be able to buy the insurance if they can afford it is that the illegals can buy insurance now if they can afford it.  They can’t and don’t.   Quote of the Day:“Don’t like him at all,” he said, “I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left wing. One is registered as a Communist.“Obama is following Marxist theory. He’s taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail.”

Andy Williams, singer, and close friend of Bobby and Teddy Kennedy Just one other quick observation.  I saw Bill Maher on TV last night for the first time in quite a while.  Have you seen him lately?  I was struck by how much he looked like Hugh Hefner.  Not particularly flattering, I guess, given that Hefner is about 35 years his senior.   Hang in there:Glenn

Is terrorism really running rampant in the U.S.?

I could be wrong, but I have been burned before by giving the benefit of the doubt to the administration.

I see all of these terrorism arrests, like a bolt out of the blue! Nothing on terrorism for a couple of years until now. It just seems as such a coincidence.

It occurs to me that this may be another attempt by the administration to take the people’s minds off the health care long enough for them to slip it through.

The “Handbook for Radicals” counsels that there is opportunity to progress through “organized” chaos. That also holds true for a good crisis, whether real or trumped up.

Just a thought.

If it seems like Obama has 50 things in the fire all of the time, it is by design. He does it to confuse you and to wear you down to the point where you quit paying attention, and then like a cobra in the weeds, he strikes! (Pretty snarky, huh?)

I have Obama’s campaign slogan for his run in 2012. “Yes, we can have a coincidence!”

Hell, by 2012, he may be president for life!

Observation(s) of the Day

Not only are the Libs breaking out the racism charges for dissenters, now we are getting hit with being “hate mongers”. How about that? I am a hate monger and a racist for opposing Obama policies that I believe will bring this country down, and in doing so, ravage the majority of its citizens.

I am a hate monger because I am against the feds gutting Medicare, including the advantage plans which will work a hardship on many of the poorest in America.

I am a hate monger because I don’t believe that the Feds have any business owning huge shares of major companies. That, in itself, is a job killer.

I am a hate monger because I believe that our congress should read all bills before voting on them.

I am a hate monger because I do not believe in an administration that has to lie and go to extraordinary lengths to deceive the public, because its programs are so hurtful that if the public knew the full impact, they would never accept them.

I am a hate monger because I believe in the prosecution of Senators that say that they aren’t going to inform the public of the true cost of a program because it will interfere with its passage.

I am a hate monger because I believe that congressional representatives that subscribe to these tactics and continue to push programs that will devastate this country

and its people are guilty of, at best, sedition. (We no longer have a sedition law as it was repealed some time ago.)

However, look for the congress to resurrect it, if they think of it, as it is a mighty effective weapon for stifling dissent. If the administration doesn’t like what you are saying, they charge you with sedition and throw your fanny in jail. And I can tell you that the progressives in general and this administration in particular will not countenance dissent. They will do something to quell it. (Joe Stalin did not countenance dissent and Hugo Chavez, Obama’s South American ally, at least in Honduras, is doing away with dissent by getting rid of media that is critical of him and jailing demonstrators.

The progressives haven’t figured out how to do it yet, but when they figure it out, it will be buried in one of those thousand page bills and the progressives will spring it on us at the most opportune time.

Keep in mind, Obama has only been in office for about 8 months and already has this country headed into a downward spiral. He has three more years, at least, to finish us before having to stand for re-election, (unless we can come up with a constitutional way to get him out of office earlier). That is pretty much a non- starter without congress and perhaps, even with congress. I see a ton of acts by him that I would consider felonies and/or malfeasance in office, but then, I am not congress and I am not a lawyer, so what do I know?

How socialism really works:

WASHINGTON — A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000.

The award this week to California startup Fisker Automotive Inc. follows a $465 million government loan to Tesla Motors Inc., purveyors of a $109,000 British-built electric Roadster. Tesla, like Fisker, is a California startup focusing on high-end hybrids, with a number of celebrity endorsements that is backed by investors that have contributed to Democratic campaigns.

Fisker’s Karma hybrid sports car, above, will initially cost about $89,000.

The awards to Fisker and Tesla have prompted concern from companies that have had their bids for loans rejected, and criticism from groups that question why vehicles aimed at the wealthiest customers are getting loans subsidized by taxpayers.

Excuse me Mr. President, but how many jobs for Americans is our Billion Dollars buying?

Not any, you say? How come? You said we had to support American manufacturing.

Oh, we the people have to support American Manufacturers, not you or the federal government.

How about when you are using our money to repay political contributions? Does that matter? I guess not, huh?

Aww geez, there I go hate mongering again.

Quote of the Day:

“Just because this is a Republic, it does not mean that we the people have given congress and the administration Carte Blanche ignore our wishes, damage our country, perhaps irretrievably, and to pass laws that are damaging to the people.”

Me

Flout the mandate penalty? Face the IRS:

POLITICO: Americans who fail to pay the penalty for not buying insurance would face legal action from the Internal Revenue Service, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation.

The remarks Thursday from the committee’s chief of staff, Thomas Barthold, seems to further weaken President Barack Obama’s contention last week that the individual mandate penalty, which could go as high as $1,900, is not a tax increase.

Under questioning from Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.), Barthold said the IRS would “take you to court and undertake normal collection proceedings.”

Ensign pursued the line of questioning because he said a lot of Americans don’t believe the Constitution allows the government to mandate the purchase of insurance.

“We could be subjecting those very people who conscientiously, because they believe in the U.S. Constitution, we could be subjecting them to fines or the interpretation of a judge, all the way up to imprisonment,” Ensign said. “That seems to me to be a problem.”

Ensign’s argument, however, wasn’t persuasive to the committee — which rejected an amendment from Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) to eliminate the individual mandate.

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) was the only Republican to vote with Democrats to preserve the mandate.

This is just so wrong for America in so many ways!

And nothing I have heard so far convinces me that this bill is really about health care!

The 4th Grade Class gets a lesson:

Well, how about that? Iran has another huge nuclear enrichment program that we didn’t know about. And Obama still wants to be friends?

His ignorance and arrogance has put Israel in damn near an untenable position, although, I am not sure that isn’t by design.

Your tax dollars for Kennedy:

BOSTON GLOBE: WASHINGTON - A large military spending bill moving through Congress contains a little-noticed outlay for Boston that has nothing to do with national defense: $20 million for an educational institute honoring late Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts.

The earmark, tucked into the defense bill at the request of Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, requires US taxpayers to help the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate realize its goal of building a repository for Kennedy’s papers and an accompanying civic learning center on the University of Massachusetts at Boston campus in Dorchester, next to the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum.

If Massachusetts wants it, let Massachusetts pay for it!

Might want to hold off on that flu shot:

CBC NEWS: Preliminary research suggests the seasonal flu shot may put people at greater risk for getting swine flu, CBC News has learned.

“This is some evidence that has been floated. It hasn’t been validated yet, it’s very preliminary,” cautioned Dr. Don Low, microbiologist-in-chief at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

“This is obviously important data to help guide policy decisions. How can we best protect people against influenza?”

Four Canadian studies involved about 2,000 people, health officials told CBC News. Researchers found people who had received the seasonal flu vaccine in the past were more likely to get sick with the H1N1 virus.

Researchers know that, theoretically, when people are exposed to bacteria or a virus, it can stimulate the immune system to create antibodies that facilitate the entry of another strain of the virus or disease.

Just Beautiful. Thank the Lord for countries like Canada that checks these things.

September 25, 2009 Breaking News

Breaking Outrage:

The dems are bringing back the public option after everyone thought it was dead!

I told you that they would never give it up!

By the way, this gutting of the advantage plan by Obama will hit the poorest the hardest. The cuts will kill the advantage plan and monthly premiums will rise for the poorest up to 150%!!!! How’s that for hopey/changey?

Have you heard the latest? The Resident Storm Trooper, Rahm Emanuel is saying that the health care bill will be bi-partisan, even if no republicans vote for it! These twits have become so delusional with their “politically correct euphemisms that they can’t even make sense, anymore. They are trying to get up the guts to ram it down our throats, whether we want it or like it or not. And remember this; it will happen if we collectively don’t get off our duffs.

The Congressional Budget Office says that by 2016, people with private health care will be paying a 40% tax on their premiums under this bill. That would be an extra $10,000 a year for a family of 4.

Observation(s) of the Day:

Did you know that the administration made a deal with the pharmaceutical industry last year that would protect their revenues in return for them supporting the health bill?

OK, so now we have the trial lawyers association and the pharmaceutical industry, both huge contributors to the high cost of health care that the administration has put off limits for savings! Explain to me again how this health bill, which will usurp about 17-18% of our total economy, is going to help us?

That pretty much reinforces the theory that the savings will come at the expense of seniors. Medicare cuts will be the source of some of the money: at least $500,000,000,000.00.

I wonder what other under the table deals that administration has made. Given their record, so far, I suspect there is a considerable number.

And for those too young for Medicare right now. You may not worry about it because it is a way off. I can virtually guarantee you that it will hit you without warning and a heck of a lot sooner than you ever dreamed. At that time your golden years will not be golden. If you become ill, you will be sent to the Soylent Green factory! And you children and grandchildren will only have 20 minutes to say goodbye to you. Well… not quite.

The young people in this country don’t have a clue as to what is going on, including a couple of my kids. ( The other two read this newsletter). It is incumbent on you, if you value the lives of your children and grandchildren, that you explain what is happening in this country.

Did you happen to see Quaddafy from Libya at the UN? Dennis Miller observed that he looked like your dog when he hits the invisible fence.

I do not like threats as a general rule, but I sent my democratic congressman an email telling him that if he votes for this travesty, that I will do everything in my power to work for an opposition candidate to unseat him in the next election. He is absolutely trashing his constituents by voting for this bill.

Obama got a new document signed in the UN today making it more difficult for countries to get nuclear weapons. Like Iran and North Korea give a rat’s fanny.

The liberals are bringing out the race card in spades. That means that they are getting desperate and are trying to stifle criticism of his policies!

Ahh, the party of the people strikes again. Have you heard about the fact that the dems voted for a fish rather than about 20,000 farmers and farm workers in Northern California and shut the farms down by cutting off the water at the behest of Senator Dianne Feinstein. The farm workers are out of a job and the farmers may lose their farms. What compassion. Well, at least for a minnow.

I can’t say much for the Republicans but at least they voted for the people over the fish.

Your children’s new school czar:

FOX NEWS: President Obama’s “safe schools czar” is a former schoolteacher who has advocated promoting homosexuality in schools, written about his past drug abuse, expressed his contempt for religion and detailed an incident in which he did not report an underage student who told him he was having sex with older men.

Conservatives are up in arms about the appointment of Kevin Jennings, Obama’s director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, saying he is too radical for the job.

Jennings was appointed to the position largely because of his longtime record of working to end bullying and discrimination in schools.

In 1990, as a teacher in Massachusetts, he founded the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which now has over 40 chapters at schools nationwide. He has also published six books on gay rights and education, including one that describes his own experiences as a closeted gay student. Thanx, David

Well, I have no problem with making schools safe for all students, whether they are gay or not; …nd after all, Obama did say, “If you want to know me, look at the people around me.”

Hope he doesn’t make being gay, mandatory.

Speaking of School: Did you happen to see the clip of the 2nd or 3rd graders at a New Jersey elementary school chanting praises Barack Hussein Obama and singing his praises to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic? Here it is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aqMTD5UFmU

The superintendent of the school was furious, not because of the student indoctrination but because the tape got out! These people are like cockroaches.

Another view on the climate conference:

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus sharply criticized a U.N. meeting on climate change on Tuesday at which U.S. President Barack Obama was among the top speakers, describing it as propagandistic and undignified.

“It was sad and it was frustrating,” said Klaus, one of the world’s most vocal skeptics on the topic of global warming.

“It’s a propagandistic exercise where 13-year-old girls from some far-away country perform a pre-rehearsed poem,” he said. “It’s simply not dignified.”…

“The train can’t be stopped and I consider that a huge mistake,” Klaus said.

Life at the G-20:

PITTSBURGH: AP: The protesters banged on drums and chanted “Ain’t no power like the power of the people, ’cause the power of the people don’t stop.” (Boy, does Obama have a rude awakening for him)

The marchers included small groups of self-described anarchists, some wearing dark clothes and bandanas and carrying black flags. Others wore helmets and safety goggles.

One banner read, “No borders, no banks,” another, “No hope in capitalism.” A few minutes into the march, protesters unfurled a large banner reading “NO BAILOUT NO CAPITALISM” with an encircled “A,” a recognized sign of anarchists.

Well, it looks like ACORN and the SEIU were out in force.

More evidence we are in deep doo doo:

CNBC: The US is too dependent on Japan and China buying up the country’s debt and could face severe economic problems if that stops, Tiger Management founder and chairman Julian Robertson told CNBC. “It’s almost Armageddon if the Japanese and Chinese don’t buy our debt,” Robertson said in an interview. “I don’t know where we could get the money. I think we’ve let ourselves get in a terrible situation and I think we ought to try and get out of it.”

Robertson said inflation is a big risk if foreign countries were to stop buying bonds.

“If the Chinese and Japanese stop buying our bonds, we could easily see it [inflation] go to 15 to 20 percent,” he said. “It’s not a question of the economy. It’s a question of who will lend us the money if they don’t. Imagine us getting ourselves in a situation where we’re totally dependent on those two countries. It’s crazy.”

Robertson said while he doesn’t think the Chinese will stop buying US bonds, the Japanese may eventually be forced to sell some of their long-term bonds.

“That’s much worse than not buying,” he said. “The other thing is, they’re buying almost exclusively short-term debt. And that’s what we are offering, because we can’t sell the long-term debt. And you know, the history has been that people who borrow short term really get burned.”

The only way to avoid the problem, he said, is to “grow and save our way out of it.”

“The U.S. has to quit spending, cut back, start saving, and scale backward,” Robertson said. “Until that happens, I don’t think we’re anywhere near out of the woods.”

I have been warning you about this for nearly a year now. And yet, Obama keeps spending.

I absolutely have not been able to come up with any answer to what Obama is doing, or trying to accomplish, other than the man is out to destroy this country as we know it and replace it with a Marxist regime. Anyway, that suits his management style better than a republic.

I ask any of my readers to let me know if they have an idea why they think Obama continues to follow this destructive path in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary. He may be naïve and he may be arrogant, but he sure as hell is not this stupid.

“Nappy” Napolitano strikes again:

(CNSNews.com) Terence P. Jeffrey,- Even though the Border Patrol now reports that almost 1,300 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border is not under effective control, and the Department of Justice says that vast stretches of the border are “easily breached,” and the Government Accountability Office has revealed that three persons “linked to terrorism” and 530 aliens from “special interest countries” were intercepted at Border Patrol checkpoints last year, the administration is nonetheless now planning to decrease the number of Border Patrol agents deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border. Border Patrol Director of Media Relations Lloyd Easterling confirmed this week–as I first reported in my column yesterday–that his agency is planning for a net decrease of 384 agents on the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal 2010, which begins on October 1.

A Department of Homeland Security annual performance review updated by the Obama administration on May 7 said the Border Patrol “plans to move several hundred Agents from the Southwest Border to the Northern Border to meet the FY 2010 staffing requirements, with only a small increase in new agents for the Southwest Border in the same year.”

Well, I can certainly understand the need for that. This country is awash with those pesky illegal Canadians sneaking over the border. I know of one that will be sneaking across the border this coming month. Either that or Obama is thinking that he needs more illiterate illegal’s to vote for his programs.

White House press secretary disses media:

POLITICO 44: White House press secretary Robert Gibbs tried to quiet speculation about a possible falling out between Presidents .. Barack Obama and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown by taking aim at one of his favorite targets: the British media. “I think this is media generated,” Gibbs told reporters on Air Force One. “Stop reading those London tabloids.”

Not the mainstream media, but the British media: I wonder if the real reason that he wants us to stop reading the British media is because they are running breaking news horror stories on the problems that are manifesting in the British health care system.

Another one bites the dust:

POLITICO: The National Endowment for the Arts said Thursday that its communications director, Yosi Sergant, has resigned. “This afternoon Yosi Sergant submitted his resignation from the National Endowment for the Arts. His resignation has been accepted and is effective immediately,” said a spokeswoman, Sally Gifford, in a statement.

Sergant, who helped make artist Shepard Fairey’s “Hope” image ubiquitous as an organizer of Obama campaign support from artists, had seemed to mix the NEA’s work — essentially non-partisan politics — with the administration’s legislative agenda on a conference call reported on by Andrew Breitbart’s new conservative site, Big Government.

“I would encourage you to pick something, whether it’s health care, education, the environment, you know, there’s four key areas that the corporation has identified as the areas of service,” Sergant told artists on the call, which he reportedly invited some of them to attend. “My ask would be to apply artistic, you know, your artistic creative communities utilities and bring them to the table,” he said. Is this some kind of a code? Well, I guess one has to talk in code when one is using federal grant money to promote a partisan agenda.

THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

This one is a little different….

Two Different Versions! - Two Different Morals!

OLD VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long,

building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays

the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his

house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays

the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and

demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed

while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering

grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a

table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper

is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries

when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green.’

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news

stations film the group singing, ‘We shall overcome.’ Rev. Jeremiah

Wright then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s

sake.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the

ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an

immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act

retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs

and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is

confiscated by the Government Green Czar..

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the

ants food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be

the ant’s old house, crumbles around him because he doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house,

now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once

peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2010.

Hang in there,

Glenn

September 24, 2009 Breaking News

FOLKS, THE TERROR LEVEL HAS BEEN RAISED TO RED. THE PROBLEM IS THE TERROR THREAT ISN’T AL QUAIDA, IT’S THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!

BREAKING OUTRAGE:

The Obama administration, yesterday, muzzled all insurance companies’ efforts to inform their policyholders on the effect that the government’s proposed cuts ($125,000,000,000.00) to Medicare advantage would have on the Medicare advantage plans.

Humana health had sent a letter to policyholders explaining what the cuts would do to their advantage plans if put into effect. The government threatened Humana, issued a cease and desist order forbidding all insurance companies from informing their policyholders of the effects of the budget cuts and required them to remove any such information from their websites.

The Congressional Budget office has said that the cuts would cut benefits by about 50%.

Obama has been out to gut the advantage plans because he says that the insurance industry is making too much money on them. In many cases, the advantage plan charges no premium and the company collects a set fee from Medicare.

An insurance company representative told me yesterday that the advantage plans are based on underwriting and that usually, a person will reach a point where a Medicare supplement will be a better option. However, recipients in their early years have excellent coverage without having to pay little or no premium. Now you have a choice. Obama will see to it that you will not.

It is his way or the highway!

More Obama LIES! He said that people wouldn’t have to change their policies if the new health care plan is enacted and secondly, that the Overall $500,000,000,000.00 in cuts to Medicare wouldn’t harm services.

The representative also told me that the advantage plans tend to eliminate Medicare fraud as the insurance companies are on the line, not Medicare. As you know, fraud is estimated to be a multi-billion dollar annual cost to Medicare.

Since when does any administration have the right to silence the spread of information, through threats, no less, whether it is in opposition to the administration or not?

THIS IS A STUNNING OUTRAGE AND YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR CONGRESS PERSON IMMEDIATELY REGARDING THIS BLATANTLY UNAMERICAN MOVE BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION!!!!!

Update:

The democrats just defeated an amendment by the republicans that would require congress to add up the cost of the proposed health care bill before voting on it.

Shouldn’t this be malfeasance in office or something?

I sent a note to my democratic representative asking him whether he believes that congress has a fiduciary responsibility to the American People. I will let you know what he says, if he even answers.

The Latest:

Democrats on the Senate Finance committee, yesterday, voted down an amendment that would require all bills, in their final forms, to be posted on the internet, for a period of 72 hours before a vote could be taken on them, so that congress and the public could read them before the vote. Senator Blanche Lincoln is the only democrat to vote with the republicans. Remember the pledge for transparency?

Folks, in case you haven’t noticed, your country is being swiftly stolen from you, piece by piece in favor of a despotic Marxist government. We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg of the government’s plowing through the best interests of the people in favor of Marxist doctrine. “You will take what we give you and like it!”. Folks, speak up now, or you will forever hold your piece. Democracy is leaving this country fast.

If you have even the slightest interest in where this country is going:

Islamic Day of Prayer at the White House In June 2007, Presidential candidate Barack Obama declares the USA no longer a Christian nation. In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a National Day of Prayer. In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer. This year however, President Obama, decided to cancel the ceremony at the White House not wanting to offend anyone. On September 25, 2009 from 4am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion will be held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. Thanx Rina

As a Christian, I am appalled that the president would elevate Islam over Christianity in this country.

Don’t believe me? Check it out. http://www.islamoncapitolhill.com/

Pelosi strikes again:

CBS NEWS: When House leadership brings a final health care bill to the full House floor, it may be more liberal than moderate House Democrats expected, according to reports. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is planning to include in the bill a tax on wealthy Americans, as well as a more robust government-run health insurance plan (or “public option”), abandoning the compromises leaders in a key committee worked out with the moderate Blue Dog Democrats, according to Roll Call.

We are right back to the same old crap! She really needs to be moved out of the speaker’s seat in the House. Although, after thinking about it, I am not sure that she is smart enough to do this on her own. I suspect that she may be getting her marching orders from Rahm Emanuel or Obama himself. Probably Emanuel. Obama is the type to hire killers, not do it himself.

One other thing. If the Obama, Pelosi, Reid tribe get their way and get universal health care through, it is more than likely that it could mean the demise of companies selling health insurance as a primary product. Some might move into other areas, but some wouldn’t make it and large insurance companies would cut their health care jobs. I would imagine that it would cost a couple of hundred thousand middle class jobs, at the least. Also, keep in mind that for every job, something like three jobs are created (or subtracted) to provide services for that one job.

Quote of the Day:

“That’s not a lie. That’s not even deception. That’s just an insult to our intelligence.”

Dr. Charles Krauthammer in response to Obama’s assertion that he would solve the insoluble cost problem of Obamacare by the elimination of “hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud from Medicare”.

Sort of begs the question that if a half trillion dollars can be extracted painlessly from Medicare, why does he have to wait for his health care bill to pass to accomplish it? Why doesn’t he just do it now?

Quote of the Day II:

“That’s what I was afraid of.”

Senator Max Baucus to a statement that new numbers had come through on his health bill from the Congressional Budget office.

Of course, they don’t plan on showing us those numbers.

The start of the Obama Backlash?

WASHINGTON — The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery, and a law enforcement official told The Associated Press the word ‘fed” was scrawled on the dead man’s chest.

The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky. The Census has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, pending the outcome of the investigation.

I sure hope this was a suicide and not a murder. In either case, it is tragic, but the latter could start a whole string of copycats, which would be wrong. These government workers have not done anything to deserve violence being visited on them.

Update on Terrorism:

NEW YORK (CBS) Federal agents get ready to search the apartment of Najibullah Zazi in Aurora, Colorado, Sept. 16.

The investigation into alleged bomb plot targeting New York has expanded to include nearly all of the FBI’s 57 field offices in the country and some overseas. Investigators told CBS News that agents are aggressively following a steady stream of leads in the case and have essentially constructed a family tree with 24-year-old Najibullah Zazi at the center, at least 12 of his known “disciples” in a ring around him and other associates branching out from there.

Watch out for people with back packs; especially middle eastern types.

Follow-up on Palin:

BREITBART: Hong Kong: Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said the US government was wasting taxpayers’ money and could aggravate poverty, said delegates at her first speech outside North America on Wednesday.

Her performance, which was closed to the media, divided opinion.

Some of those who attended praised her forthright views on government social and economic intervention and others walked out early in disgust.

“She was brilliant,” said a European delegate, on condition of anonymity.

“She said America was spending a lot of money and it was a temporary solution. Normal people are having to pay more and more but things don’t get better. The rich will leave the country and the poor will get poorer.”

Two US delegates left early, with one saying “it was awful, we couldn’t stand it any longer”. He declined to be identified.

Hearings on the Newspaper Bailout:

EDITOR AND PUBLISHER: NEW YORK While the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday takes up the issue of a federal shield law, another congressional committee in the House will be focused on the impact of the newspaper industry’s financial problems. Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.), Chair of the House Joint Economic Committee (JEC), will convene a hearing “to examine contraction in the newspaper industry, the economic impact of the changing media landscape, as well as the future of the industry at large,” according to an announcement. The hearing, titled “The Future of Newspapers: The Impact on the Economy and Democracy,” will take place Thursday, at 10:00 am in the Cannon House Office Building.

Well, we know what the future of Democracy will be if the government gets ownership of the media, as they did the automakers.

Latest on Iran:

TEHRAN, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Iran has built a new generation of centrifuges for enriching uranium and is testing them, the official news agency IRNA quoted its nuclear energy agency chief as saying on Tuesday.

“Iranian scientists have made a new generation of centrifuges that are currently undergoing necessary tests,” Ali Akbar Salehi told a Tehran news conference as reported by IRNA.

“Chains of 10 centrifuges are now under test,” he said, and the number in each chain “will be gradually increased.”

I wonder why Obama is waiting to engage Iran in nuclear talks. Buying time for them, perhaps?

Israel speaks out:

BREITBART: Iran’s regime is “weaker than people think” and now is the time for world leaders to press it hard on its suspect nuclear activities, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday.

“I’d like to believe that the international community understands that Iran has to be pressed strongly, there are ways of pressing this regime right now because it’s weak,” Netanyahu told CNN.

“It’s weaker than people think. It doesn’t enjoy the support of its own people,” he said, adding that the prospect of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons “threatens world peace in a way that very few events could possibly threaten it.”

I wonder why Obama is waiting to engage Iran in Nuclear talks.

What are they thinking?

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The chickens have come home to roost for Los Angeles city dwellers who keep roosters.

The City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance that—with few exceptions—allows only one rooster per property. It was spurred by complaints over noise, hygiene, and concerns over illegal cockfighting.

Janice Hahn, who authored the bill, says it will give residents of her district some peace and quiet.

I can certainly understand the need for quiet. However, the bigger issue is the chickens themselves. When you have even one family keeping chickens in the neighborhood, the area eventually becomes overrun with rodents. Then you have a public health issue.

UN Climate summit illustrates the Hypocrisy:

CBS NEWS: To hear world leaders and others addressing the United Nations Summit on Climate Change, the threat could not be more real and the need more urgent to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. But in stark contrast to the earnest statements is the carbon footprint associated with their gathering.

It happens every autumn: midtown Manhattan becomes the motorcade capital of the world. Each foreign leader in town has a convoy of vehicles. Some of them, like President Obama’s motorcade, are 20-to-30 vehicles in length. It’s so long - it seems that when the front of it reaches the U.N., the back end is still back at his hotel. Exacerbating the annual exercise in diplomatic gridlock are police actions, blocking intersections and closing streets for security to facilitate motorcade movements. It renders countless other vehicles immobile while waiting for motorcades to pass, their engines idling but still blowing exhaust into the midtown air Does it undermine the goal of the climate change summit and cause the pledges of environmental concern to ring hollow? Asked about it, White House climate change negotiator Todd Sterns had a suggestion. “I think the U.N. should make a pledge to electric vehicle motorcades within five years,” he said. Right. As soon as all U.N. diplomats pay their parking tickets.

These nimrods either do not understand, or will not admit that electric cars just move the pollution to other areas. I suspect that the intelligencia would have us build the power plants in rural areas so their emissions won’t foul the air of the cities where they live.

India beats us at our own game:

LONDON TIMES: Dreams of establishing a manned Moon base could become reality within two decades after India’s first lunar mission found evidence of large quantities of water on its surface.

Data from Chandrayaan-1 also suggests that water is still being formed on the Moon. Scientists said the breakthrough — to be announced by NASA at a press conference today — would change the face of lunar exploration.

The discovery is a significant boost for India in its space race against China. Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, the mission’s project director at the Indian Space Research Organisation in Bangalore, said: “It’s very satisfying.”

WOW!

Commanders endorse McChrystal’s assessment:

WASHINGTON, Sept 23 (Reuters) - The head of the U.S. Central Command, Army General David Petraeus, said on Wednesday that both he and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen had endorsed an assessment by the top commander in Afghanistan that says more troops would be needed. “Obviously I endorsed, the chairman endorsed… Gen. (Stanley) McChrystal’s assessment and description,” Petraeus said at a counterinsurgency conference in Washington.

As I pointed out yesterday, the 4th grade class is now hesitating on their “winning strategy” because of, as the defense analyst yesterday put it, “Sticker Shock”.

On top of that, Joe Biden has been running around the white house trumpeting a plan featuring a pared down role in Afghanistan, contrary to all of the military’s advice.

Joe Biden is now making policy? We are in deep doo doo. See Below.

More Borrowing:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. government will have issued $7 trillion in bonds by the time the current fiscal year ends next week, but it expects the debt deluge to stabilize by mid 2010, a Treasury official said on Wednesday…

However, this expansion may take place in an environment where investors consider leaving the safe-haven Treasury market for riskier assets, and debt issuance is likely to level off mid next year, said Treasury Acting Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets Karthik Ramanathan.

“In fiscal year 2009, which ends next week, Treasury will have issued $7 trillion in gross issuance — that’s in a 12-month period,” Ramanathan told a financial markets conference in New York.

“This issuance was necessary to meet nearly $1.7 trillion in net marketable borrowing needs, nearly $1 trillion more than what we raised last year,” he added.

How is the debt issue going to stabilize when, according to Obama, we will create huge extra debt each year over the next 10 years?

Also, word has it that the last bond sale, which ostensibly went to the private sector, was sold back to the Fed a couple of days later. And the Fed used newly

printed money to buy it. If this is the case, and I haven’t been able to verify this yet, but if it is, we are monetizing the debt as we speak.

Hang in there, (although it is looking like it will get tougher and tougher to do)

September 23, 2009 Breaking News

Observation of the Day:

I mentioned yesterday that Obama has decided to re-evaluate Afghanistan strategy after only 4 or 5 months, before sending the required troops. A government official was quoted as saying: “The time for this discussion was back in November of 2008″. I think this provides a good example of some of the ailments that plague this administration.

It does beg the question as to whether this winning strategy was well thought out in the beginning and if it should have lasted more than 5 or 6 months before having to be reassessed. A defense analyst who regularly advises the military said “They have buyer’s remorse for this war. They never really thought about what was required and now they have sticker shock.”

Which brings us to the real observation.

It appears to me that there are more than a couple of things plaguing the administration. I will only look at a couple, here.

First of all, I believe that, in their enthusiasm to wield all of this power, which none of them has ever previously possessed, they move on issues without really understanding the them and what is required to deal with them. Secondly, Obama and cronies, are inside the box thinkers. In researching what little information there is out there on Obama, I have formed some impressions.

Obama was mentored by communists in his formative years, Marshall in Hawaii and Alinsky in Chicago. He was trained in Alinsky’s community organizing tactics, which is a cover for how to organize a country into Marxism, but on a smaller and perhaps less seditious scale. Consequently, he had the communist mind set when he came of political age.

In addition, he is a stunning orator, which is why Soros chose him to execute his long- standing plan. I believe that Soros is the power behind the throne and he is in it for the money and power.

In any case, there are issues here. Doing something on a national and international scale is a hell of a lot more difficult than organizing a neighborhood. First of all, bullying doesn’t work so well on a larger scale. To Obama’s credit, he did realize this early on and thus, the 500,000 strong Americorps, which are to be equipped and trained to military standards and would answer only to Obama. Secondly, the larger the operation, the more the variables grow, exponentially sometimes. And this is where the problems are manifesting themselves.

Not really being citizens of the world and locked into learning about only one ideology, the 4th grade class, as I like to call them, have only their radical training to fall back on, and their radical training was pretty much aimed at small time operations. Obama and group do have the advantage of being able to study past despots and learn from their mistakes. And they can draw from other contemporary sources such as the

book that Obama was pictured holding in yesterday’s newsletter, “The Post American World”, written by a Muslim.( Our obituary is already being written. Do you suppose they know something we don’t?)

In any case, the problem with these ‘trained’ people is that they see everything through red tinted glasses, and if an idea or plan appears to fit the program, as laid out in the manual, (Saul Alinsky’s “Handbook for Radicals”) they go with it. Of course, the manual isn’t always correct or complete. Writing a how to manual proposing to teach people how to do something as complicated as overthrow a government is akin to attempting to teach a pig to dance.

In addition, Leaders are born, not made, and just because a guy is a great speaker doesn’t mean that he is a great leader. Have you ever heard of a successful conman that wasn’t charismatic and didn’t have a great way with words? If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be a conman. And eventually their own schemes are their undoing.

I have seen similar scenarios, to what is happening nationally, in the corporate world, where a very likable fellow is promoted into the executive ranks. These fellows usually have a degree in a discipline related to their new position and, in fact, are not stupid people.

However, for some reason, many tend to manage the past and present, without regard to the future. They either don’t analyze a problem at all or they analyze it to death; either way, nothing good happens. They seem to lack that understanding that requires that they attempt to foresee the future and plan for it, developing contingency plans along the way, in order to maximize the performance of their division, or operating company. They only give lip service to the future, however. (Budgets, you know) You can even find this failing among top executives of major corporations, many of which are not around anymore.

And I think that is Obama’s (and the 4th grade class’) problem in a nutshell. Their inherent inexperience and inability to assess all of the consequences of their actions, down the line is turning into a recipe for disaster. The contingency plans are not being made. (A rookie mistake) Also, their inability to look at issues objectively, rather than within the context of what their final goal is crippling their ability to deal with issues impartially. This assessment, of course, is based on the supposition that Obama and the 4th grade class are not out to destroy this country as a strategy for taking it over.

Make no mistake; this guy can wreak nearly as much havoc on America by accident as he can on purpose.

Unfortunately, either way, the American citizen loses; Big!

Obama pushes new world order:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will urge world leaders this week to launch a new push in November to rebalance the world economy, but there are doubts national governments will bow to external advice.

World Economists and Leaders already regard Obama with a sense of fear and wonder. Why would they take his economic advice? The 4th grade class has turned into an insular mutual admiration society.

If Obama is not a liar, what do you call it?

WASHINGTON — Congress’ chief budget officer is contradicting President Barack Obama’s oft-stated claim that seniors wouldn’t see their Medicare benefits cut under a health care overhaul.

The head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf, told senators Tuesday that seniors in Medicare’s managed care plans would see reduced benefits under a bill in the Finance Committee.

The bill would cut payments to the Medicare Advantage plans by more than $100 billion over 10 years.

Elmendorf said the changes would reduce the extra benefits that would be made available to beneficiaries.

Critics say the plans are overpaid, while supporters say they work well.

Obama says cuts to Medicare providers won’t reduce seniors’ benefits.

This must be a newly tweaked bill. Obama originally told us that he would carve $500,000,000,000.00 in “savings” from Medicare! The key here is to keep telling us that they are ratcheting it down until the bill passes and then go ahead with the cuts. I will guarantee one thing. The bill that passes won’t have language prohibiting the administration from gutting Medicare.

Congress catches on sooo slowly:

WASHINGTON TIMES: A bipartisan group of House lawmakers on Wednesday announced an effort that would force Democratic leaders to give members of Congress — and the public — 72 hours to review legislation before a bill is brought to the floor for a vote.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Brian Baird, Oregon Democrat, and Republican Reps. John Culberson of Texas and Greg Walden of Oregon, would require House leaders to post all non-emergency legislation online, in its final form, three days before a vote.

The lawmakers have begun circulating a discharge petition that would force House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to hold a vote on their bill, which has been stuck in committee for months. Now why would Pelosi be sitting on this bill?

It’s about time! Or better yet, limit all bills to 200 pages. If it takes more pages, it needs to be put in a separate bill. That would absolutely stall government in its tracks, you say? I say, would that be so bad?

Quote of the Day;

…”Obama succeeded in picking a fight not just with George Stephanopoulos on when is a tax a tax but also with Merriam-Webster. The $750-a-person tax for not having health insurance is a tax. And its imposition will break Obama’s pledge never to raise taxes on people making less then $250,000 a year. Again. He broke it with his cigarette tax, and the principal Democratic House health-care bill has four new taxes on all Americans.”

Karl Rove regarding Obama’s super Sunday

Another insight into Obama:

WASHINGTON POST…The Defenestration of Prague occurred in 1618 when two royal officials were summarily thrown out of some rather high windows and landed, as luck would have it and history recorded it, on a pile of manure. The Defenestration of New York happened just the other day when Barack Obama tossed New York Gov. David Paterson out of a window, landing him not on a pile of manure but on the front page of the New York Times. In its political consequences, this is a distinction without difference…

…Yet, Obama slapped it down. Some will be tempted to credit such hardball tactics to Chicago and its bare-knuckle politics. That, though, is not the case. Obama — as opposed to Rahm Emanuel — is not from Chicago. He is from the Land of Ambition. That is a storied realm where all the posted signs warn, “Don’t Get Between Me and What I Want.” Obama wants a second term, and neither racial fellowship nor bonhomie nor a touching consideration for the bruised feelings of others will, in the end, make a difference. Paterson had to go.

The Defenestration of New York tells you nothing you did not know about Paterson. But it does tell you something about Obama and a toughness lurking behind that blazing smile. Call the purging of Paterson post-racial politics or just plain politics, but in either case the lesson is clear: When you become a problem for Obama, don’t get too close to a window.

Richard Cohen presented this amusing insight in the Washington Post yesterday, and I dare say, it is right on. It supports my views on this issue from a few days ago. We saw this trait as soon as Obama took office and he went after media outlets that displeased him.

Sen. Baucus chasing his tail:

WASHINGTON POST: Seeking to lock down votes before Tuesday’s meeting of the Senate Finance Committee, Chairman Max Baucus began reworking his health-care overhaul to ease the financial burden on middle-class Americans who would be required for the first time to have health insurance. ($750 per person fine (tax) for those who can’t afford it.)

All of his changes, though, would add billions to the cost of a bill whose chief accomplishment was its relative austerity.

Baucus (Mont.) came under fire last week from fellow Democrats and Sen. Olympia J. Snowe (Maine), the only Republican still at the negotiating table, for a mandate that people buy health coverage, at a price they may not be able to afford.

I cannot believe that they keep beating this dead horse. Apparently, they subscribe to the theory that if you tell people a lie enough times, they will believe it. The problem with this theory, at least in this case, is that it doesn’t take much logic to understand that the administration’s protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, we will be in for a whopping tax to fund this little gem.

What’s wrong with this picture:

The Liberals progressives have busted their tail to put us into mass transit, at huge cost to the taxpayers, over the past thirty years and now they are warning us that mass transit (trains in this case) are primary soft targets for bombers and the transit authorities need to take special precautions.

Just Beautiful! Just…

Weird News:

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — A man is accused of throwing a pot of boiling noodles on his girlfriend at a Mandan apartment.

Mandan police say the 30-year-old suspect was arrested Sunday. He’s facing a felony aggravated assault charge.

Police say the 43-year-old woman suffered burns and blisters on her back from the hot noodles, and marks on her neck where the suspect allegedly tried to bite her.

Thanx Peej

Apparently, there are more risks for Urban Cougars than I first thought…at least in North Dakota, where urban anything is an oxymoron

Obama turns the tables:

UNITED NATIONS – In a blunt challenge to his nation’s critics, President Barack Obama on Wednesday exhorted world leaders who once accused the United States of acting alone to now join with him in solving global crises rather than wait for America to do it on its own.

Nice going, Mr. President. I just wish that I had a better handle on whether global warming is man made or not. The libs have a tendency to grab on to something and then make a mad dash for the cliff. We are seeing that in a lot of Obama’s programs.

Obamamania quieting down on campus:

CHICAGO – Young Americans showed their collective power when they helped vote President Obama into office. Inspired by his message of “change,” they knocked on doors, spread flyers, voted for him by a 2-1 margin, and partied like rock-the-vote stars when he won.

Since the election, though, that fervor has died down — noticeably. And while young people remain the president’s most loyal supporters in opinion polls, a lot of people are wondering why that age group isn’t doing more to build upon their newfound reputation as political influencers.

“It’s one thing to get excited about a presidential candidate. It’s another thing to become a responsible citizen,” says Jennifer Donahue, political director for the New Hampshire Institute Of Politics. She and other political analysts thinks they have yet to prove themselves.

Professors and students themselves also are noticing the quiet on college campuses, which were hotbeds for “Obamamania” during the campaign.

“They’re supportive, but in a bystander kind of way,” says Laura Katz Olson, a political science professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.

One of two things has happened here. Either the students are beginning to realize that they voted for a pig in a poke and they really don’t want a Marxist nation, after all, or, and more likely, since most are from middle class homes, they are just politically dead from the fanny both ways. They had their little fling and it was exciting and new, but now it is back to business as usual.

I challenge each reader to find a college student and talk to them about the issues at hand and maybe introduce them to some of the things that are really going on in this country.

September 22, 2009 Breaking News

Breaking News:

The white house has the National Endowment for the Arts calling together a hand picked group of artist’s organizations who supported Obama in his election efforts, and asking them to produce art for several of the white house agendas, including health care! In doing so, The NEA did encourage a handpicked, pro-Obama arts group to address issues under contentious national debate. That fact is irrefutable.

Your tax dollars at work and your government working against you.

I have mentioned before that Obama had said this to the print media but I actually watched a film clip of Obama yesterday. He said: “My cap and trade bill would necessarily skyrocket electricity rates”.

Does this sound like a man who has your welfare at heart; especially when it will do absolutely nothing for global warming!

Observations:

Long time readers know that I have been struggling for some time to figure out just what Obama is; what his plan is and how it is supposed to work. Many of you remember several months ago when I put forth the possibility that the only way for Obama to come out of nowhere and win like he did was that it was by a long standing and well rehearsed plan waiting for the right messenger. Still, It has made no sense to me that he continues this reckless spending in the face of the disaster that it will cause.

Now someone has put a theory out that it all is quite simple and straightforward. The theory is simply that they will load this government with so many entitlements and so much debt that the government will literally collapse under the weight. It would be a financial Armageddon for this country.

At that time, most people would have lost so much that they would give away their freedom to get some help. And the government in power would have free reign to do what they wanted. As I said before: “Starving people make poor negotiators.”

I still have a hard time believing that something like this could happen but I keep seeing more and more signs that all point the way down this road. His agenda is becoming clearer.

I mentioned a few weeks ago the New York governor’s attempt to inject racism into his reelection campaign. This governor has now attracted the attention of the “MAN”. Yep, that’s right; he now has Obama’s attention. And now Obama is pulling out the stops to throw his brethren under the bus. How is that for hopey/changy?

It seems that the governor has screwed up so bad that the democratic illuminati no longer believe that he can hang on to the office. They have been working him over to walk away, but so far, he has refused.

Obama’s main fear is that Rudy Giuliani will run (as I suggested last month) and if he is elected, he could be very instrumental in keeping New York from supporting Obama in the next presidential election. That could cost Obama the election. (With any luck)

Yesterday Obama had only one question on ACORN from the 5 shows on which he was featured. George Stephanopoulos had the temerity to bring it up. The president said that he wasn’t really aware of what was going on with ACORN or that they were getting money from the Federal Gov’t.

You know what? Joe Wilson was right! He is a liar!

Britain is our canary:

Britain is about a year ahead of this country in this tax, spend, borrow debacle. In order for Britain to stay alive, they are proposing significantly higher taxes throughout.

Even Zimbabweans are looking on in amazement at the mismanagement of the money in Britain. (There was an article in a Zimbabwean newspaper a couple of days ago regarding the mess in Britain.).

Here is the hard news. Just as Britain, Our treasury is empty and our credit is exhausted. We have no choice but to monetize our debt which will make your money worthless.

By the way, the government just rushed to spend an additional $25 Billion of the stimulus money in the past two weeks, with little or no oversight. Apparently, they were coming under increasing pressure because the money hasn’t been getting out.

The single largest “Pork Barrel” bill ever to be foisted on the American taxpayer.

Question of the Day:

Is forcing people to buy government insurance just another tax? And is it even Constitutional?

Quote of the Day:

“I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election.”

President Barack Obama speaking on comments that opposition to his health care program was race based.

Obama, the Rock Star:

WASHINGTON — During his first eight months in office, President Obama has sat down for three times as many television interviews as his most recent two predecessors combined.

And with [Sunday’s] run of the Sunday-morning news show circuit and [last night’s] airing of “Late Night with David Letterman,” Obama continues to blaze through the media hotter than any political figure in modern history.

“He’s turning the presidency into an infomercial,” warned former White House speechwriter Matt Latimer. “It’s not just damaging to the White House. It will also ultimately hurt President Obama’s image as a fresh, non-Washington leader.”

Amen to that. If he fails as president, as he should, he has great career potential in infomercials. Can you imagine waking up in the middle of the night to him selling a household cleaning product? Come to think of it, I would sure sleep a lot better than I do now.

Israel starting to sweat:

JERUSALEM, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Israel has not given up the option of a military response to Tehran’s nuclear programme, senior officials said on Monday, after Russia’s president said his Israeli counterpart assured him it would not attack Iran.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon was asked by Reuters if that comment by Israeli President Shimon Peres, as reported on Sunday by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, was a guarantee there would be no Israeli strike on Iran.

Ayalon replied: “It is certainly not a guarantee.

“I don’t think that, with all due respect, the Russian president is authorised to speak for Israel and certainly we have not taken any option off the table.”

It appears that Russia, with the tacit approval of Obama, is placing Israel between a rock and a hard place. We should be ashamed of our president’s actions, or lack of action in this matter.

Palin back in the Saddle:

BREITBART: Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is expected to speak about US foreign policy and China in her first keynote speech outside North America, Hong Kong organisers said on Monday.

Palin, mocked during last year’s presidential campaign for her lack of experience in foreign affairs and for her verbal gaffes, is due to address hundreds of financial big-hitters at the CLSA Investors’ Forum on Wednesday.

“We have asked her to address US foreign policy, to discuss her views on governance, healthcare, and of course, China,” Jonathan Slone, chief executive officer of the Asia-focused brokerage, said in an interview with AFP.

For what it’s worth.

Obama at it again:

THE GUARDIAN: Barack Obama has demanded the Pentagon conduct a radical review of US nuclear weapons doctrine to prepare the way for deep cuts in the country’s arsenal, the Guardian can reveal.

Obama has rejected the Pentagon’s first draft of the “nuclear posture review” as being too timid, and has called for a range of more far-reaching options consistent with his goal of eventually abolishing nuclear weapons altogether, according to European officials.

Those options include:

• Reconfiguring the US nuclear force to allow for an arsenal measured in hundreds rather than thousands of deployed strategic warheads.

• Redrafting nuclear doctrine to narrow the range of conditions under which the US would use nuclear weapons.

• Exploring ways of guaranteeing the future reliability of nuclear weapons without testing or producing a new generation of warheads.

The review is due to be completed by the end of this year, and European officials say the outcome is not yet clear. But one official said: “Obama is now driving this process. He is saying these are the president’s weapons, and he wants to look again at the doctrine and their role.”

First of all, Mr. President, you can’t get Iran and North Korea to drop their nuclear agenda, let alone India and Pakistan and worse yet, Russia and China. Any nuclear disarmament will be unilateral on our part.

Secondly, Mr. President. Those nuclear arms are not “YOUR” nuclear arms. They belong to the people of this country!

Obama rationalizing abandonment of missile plan in Eastern Europe:

BREITBART: US President Barack Obama denied that “paranoid” objections from Russia influenced his decision to abandon plans by the former Bush administration to site a missile defense system in Eastern Europe.

“Russia had always been paranoid about this, but George Bush was right, this wasn’t a threat to them,” Obama said in an interview on CBS show “Face the Nation” days before he is set to meet Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the United Nations.

“This program will not be a threat to them. So my task here was not to negotiate with the Russians,” Obama said, responding to claims by some domestic critics that his move amounted to appeasement of confrontational Russian policies.

“The Russians don’t make determinations about what our defense posture is. We have made a decision about what will be best to protect the American people as well as our troops in Europe and our allies,” Obama said.

Israel may beg to differ with you in that respect, Mr. President, assuming you still consider them and not Iran an ally.

Russia gives us the high sign:

ZURICH (Reuters) - Russia’s top general said on Monday that plans to deploy missiles in an enclave next to Poland had not been shelved, despite a decision by the United States to rethink plans for missile defense in Europe.

But a former Russian diplomatic negotiator indicated he thought the deployments in Kaliningrad region, bordering Poland, unlikely to go ahead. Alternative U.S. proposals for sea-based defenses appeared less likely to raise Kremlin objections.

Nice going, Mr. President! Another example of your razor sharp negotiating skills!

And we are worried about global warming?

AUTOWEEK: Early next decade, BMW of North America plans to sell an electric “megacity car” as a sub-brand of BMW, similar to the brand’s M high-performance cars. But further details are skimpy.

BMW already is preparing for that launch. Its yearlong trial with the Mini E electric car has opened the auto marketer’s eyes to the maze of regulations facing plug-in electric cars.

“We are learning a heck of a lot just about the sheer infrastructure,” says Jim O’Donnell, CEO of BMW of North America. “When we bring out another electric car, we will be in a great position because we know all the wrinkles.”

BMW has 450 Mini E electric cars running in a yearlong trial in metropolitan New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles.

There should be more cars on the roads. But after more than six months of addressing regulatory hurdles, Mini has yet to get approval to install more than 30 additional fast-charge boxes in New Jersey. With a 240-volt box, the Mini E can be recharged in three hours rather than the 21 hours needed using 110-volt power.

Typical 4th grade class planning here. Obama and class seem to think that all they have to do is write a law forcing us to do something and all the details of how it will be done will be automatically worked out.

Oh, and remember, the cap and trade will come into effect just in time to skyrocket electricity rates as we start using billions of kilowatt hours of electricity to power our cars.

There are a lot of liberals out there that haven’t thought past the touchy/feely to realize that with electric cars, all we are doing is moving the pollution to fixed sites.

More “Green” successes:

WASHINGTON POST: The four drafty buildings had been fixtures of the Energy Department complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn., for more than half a century. They burned energy like 1950s sedans.

The buildings seemed like perfect candidates for a federal conservation retrofit program that relies on private contractors that receive a percentage of the money they save. A deal was struck in 2001. The contractors reworked lighting and heating systems, among other things, and began collecting payments.

The project was counted among the department’s “green” successes — until auditors discovered that the buildings had been torn down several years ago, and the government had paid $850,000 for energy savings at facilities that no longer existed.

The audit findings show the potential for waste and abuse at a time when the department is poised to launch billions of dollars more in stimulus spending on an unprecedented welter of green projects across the country.

The explosion in green spending is occurring despite well-documented weaknesses at the core of the strategy: A chronic lack of government officials assigned and properly trained to oversee the financially and technically complex projects.

The problems are not exclusive to Oak Ridge. The auditors, from the department’s inspector general’s office, also determined that $565,000 had been paid over six years under the same arrangement to a contractor in Texas for a high-efficiency laundry that was no longer in use. The department also paid out $3.4 million on another project without checking whether the conservation measures worked — and $160,000 for measurements that were never taken.

And you really think it is OK for these people to be in charge of your health care?

Haven’t we played this tune before?

WASHINGTON POST: The top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan warns in an urgent, confidential assessment of the war that he needs more forces within the next year and bluntly states that without them, the eight-year conflict “will likely result in failure,” according to a copy of the 66-page document obtained by The Washington Post.

Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal says emphatically: “Failure to gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum in the near-term (next 12 months) — while Afghan security capacity matures — risks an outcome where defeating the insurgency is no longer possible.”

Remember when the dems were saying that Iraq was a disaster and we shouldn’t be there, but Afghanistan was OK and we should be there? They seem to have forgotten that.

Obama, now bowing to pressure from the far left is reconsidering sending more troops to Afghanistan and I suspect, working feverishly on a plan to abandon Afghanistan without catching too much flak for deserting allies and fights that we started.

September 21, 2009 Breaking News

Observations:

If you want to know just how much trouble that this country is in, how about this for an example:

I listened to a Harvard Law professor on C-Span trying to make the case that other governmental agencies should have the ability to interpret the Constitution, and not just the courts. Can you imagine HUD interpreting the Constitution, or for that matter, even those goof balls in congers? It is stunning that Harvard is teaching such sedition.

I have said for years that academia is the last great bastion of socialism. Little did I realize they were so close to springing it on us.

When asked repeatedly Sunday about how he was going to pay for this massive spending bill called health care, if he didn’t raise taxes. He said he wouldn’t raise taxes on the middle class and that drug companies and insurance companies would have to step up and pay their fair share!

How freaking ignorant does he think we are? If he does that, they will just raise their prices to reflect the extra taxes. No, the middle class will get throttled in this deal.

…and the fact that he keeps beating this drum of deceit tells me that once he gets the bill passed, he doesn’t give a rat’s fanny what happens to us. Remember, this isn’t really about health care.

The government goes after its citizens in a big way!

Americans who slap $1 pricetags on their used possessions at garage sales or bazaar events risk being slapped with fines of up to $15 million, thanks to a new government campaign.

The “Resale Round-up,” launched by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, enforces new limits on lead in children’s products and makes it illegal to sell any items that don’t meet those limits or have been recalled for any other reason.

The strict standards were set in the 2008 Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act after a series of high-profile recalls of Chinese-made toys.

The standards were originally interpreted to apply only to new products, but now the CPSC says they apply to used items as well. Here is that ol’ interpretation issue again.

“Those who resell recalled children’s products are not only breaking the law, they are putting children’s lives at risk,” said CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum. “Resale stores should make safety their business and check for recalled products and hazards to children.”

In order to comply, stores, flea markets, charities and individuals selling used goods — in person or online — are expected to consult the commission’s 24-page

Handbook for Resale Stores and Product Resellers and its Web site for a breakdown of what they can’t sell.

Violators caught selling anything on the enormous list face fines of up to $100,000 per infraction and up to $15 million for a related series of infractions. Thanx, David

It is really getting complicated trying to live in this country without being arrested for something.

ACORN CEO is Outraged

ACORN’s top officer said Sunday that she was “outraged” by the content of hidden-camera videotapes showing her organization’s employees offering advice to undercover filmmakers posing as a pimp and prostitute, as she pledged to “reform” the inner workings of the activist group.

Chief organizer Bertha Lewis tried to calm a growing firestorm over the behavior of her group’s employees. Allegations of voter registration fraud and other ethical lapses have plagued ACORN for years, but the videotapes were the last straw for the group’s critics — as well as its long-time defenders.

Ya know, Bertha. You should have been outraged 10 years ago. This is nothing new with ACORN. Me thinks the lady protesteth too much!

Iran developing mid-range missiles:

WASHINGTON TIMES: White House National Security Adviser James L. Jones says President Obama’s decision to abandon a long-range missile defense site in Eastern Europe was driven by U.S. intelligence concerns that Iran is further along than previously thought in developing medium-range missiles that could strike Western Europe and the Middle East with nuclear warheads.

“We think they are heading toward weaponiz[ing] these missiles, which obviously we want to dissuade them from doing,” the retired four-star Marine general told The Washington Times, explaining why U.S. officials dramatically shifted from years of focus on guarding against longer-range intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

O.K. Mr. President. What is the drill here? Is Israel supposed to wait until Tel Aviv is wiped from the face of the earth, or should they do a first strike, something you have opposed to from the beginning? What will it be, Mr. President?

Carter running his mouth again:

BREITBART: The United States knew about an abortive coup against Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in 2002, and may even have taken part, former US president Jimmy Carter has told a Colombian newspaper.

“I think there is no doubt that in 2002, the United States had at the very least full knowledge about the coup, and could even have been directly involved,” Carter said in an interview with El Tiempo published Sunday.

So what is your point, President Carter? That the government is just as apt to bungle things now as they did at the bay of pigs and your own failed Iran hostage mission?

Social Phones:

FINANCIAL TIMES: Forget caller ID. A coming wave of “social” mobile phones is likely to tell you everything you ever wanted to know and more about the person calling you.

An application called Robo.to, available in the fourth quarter on the iPhone and handsets that run Google’s Android operating system, offers a stream of information about callers, including personal videos, photos and their current location.

Just what we need! That ought to put a crimp in guys calling their wives from the bar and telling them that they are working late. However, I have faith that the providers will come up with a feature that blocks this information for an additional $10 per month.

Obama proposes world regulations:

Sept. 19 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama said tougher financial regulations are needed worldwide to protect consumers, provide economic stability and prevent future crises.

With the leaders from the Group of 20 nations set to meet next week in Pittsburgh, Obama said in his weekly address on the radio and Internet, that international cooperation has “stopped our economic freefall.”

I am not nearly convinced that our economic free fall has stopped. Keep your seat belts tightened and your tray tables in the upright position for a little while longer.

Headline of the Day: (The Hill)

Capitol alert for H1N1 outbreak;

senators and staff to get masks

Finally, we will be able to recognize them for what they are. They have been holding us up for decades.

We all stand convicted to a certain extent:

NEW YORK TIMES: With two laptop-loving children and a Jack Russell terrier hemmed in by an electric fence, Peter Troast figured his household used a lot of power. Just how much did not really hit him until the night the family turned off the overhead lights at their home in Maine and began hunting gadgets that glowed in the dark.

“It was amazing to see all these lights blinking,” Mr. Troast said.

Electricity use from power-hungry gadgets is rising fast all over the world. The fancy new flat-panel televisions everyone has been buying in recent years have turned out to be bigger power hogs than some refrigerators.

The proliferation of personal computers, iPods, cellphones, game consoles and all the rest amounts to the fastest-growing source of power demand in the world. Americans now have about 25 consumer electronic products in every household, compared with just three in 1980. I just did an audit and I have 15 items including three electric clocks, a microwave and coffeemaker, both of which also have clocks. Worldwide, consumer electronics now represent 15 percent of household power demand, and that is expected to triple over the next two decades, according to the International Energy Agency, making it more difficult to tackle the greenhouse gas emissions responsible for global warming.

To satisfy the demand from gadgets will require building the equivalent of 560 coal-fired power plants, or 230 nuclear plants, according to the agency.

Most energy experts see only one solution: mandatory efficiency rules specifying how much power devices may use.

The so-called vampire users of electricity can also mount up. Those TV’s, VCR’s, DVD’s, computers, and many other devices continue to use electricity, even when they are shut down.

Some good news for a change:

BREITBART: Zurich: Paralyzed rats whose spinal cords had been severed from their brains were made to run again using a technique that scientists say can work for people, according to a study released Sunday.

Consistent electrical stimulation and drugs enabled the rats to walk on their hind legs on a treadmill — bearing the full weight of the body — within a week of being paralyzed.

With the addition of physical therapy, the rodents were able after several weeks to walk and run without stumbling for up to 30 minutes, reported the study, published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.

Awww Geeez:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney reflects conservatives’ growing confidence when he taunts Democrats, saying “I’ll bet you never dreamed you’d look back at Jimmy Carter as the good old days.”

Romney is an idiot if he thinks these people in the administration are beaten. They are never beaten, just delayed! At least until they have won.

Swine flu could cause anarchy:

THE GUARDIAN, U.K. : The swine flu pandemic could kill millions and cause anarchy in the world’s poorest nations unless £900m can be raised from rich countries to pay for vaccines and antiviral medicines, says a UN report leaked to the Observer.

The disclosure will provoke concerns that health officials will not be able to stem the growth of the worldwide H1N1 pandemic in developing countries. If the virus takes hold in the poorest nations, millions could die and the economies of fragile countries could be destroyed.

Could this be a little black mail, by any chance?

Researcher dies of plague:

September 19, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — There was word Saturday that the death of a University of Chicago scientist may be linked to a bacteria that causes the plague.

The researcher, who died Sunday, studied the genetics of harmful bacteria, including a weakened strain of yersinia pestis. (and a strong strain of Saulis Alinskya pestis)

The University of Chicago says there doesn’t appear to be any threat to the public, and no other illness related to the case has been reported.

Note to Jimmy Carter. You are wrong that I do not like Barack Obama because he is black. I do not like Barack Obama because he is a Marxist!

Oh, and by the way, resident twit at the New York Times, Maureen Dowd, in her column following the Joe Wilson outburst wrote:

“But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!”

Boy????? Now who is putting race into a non-racial setting? I told you guys. Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. First Carter; then her and then a veritable army of mental zombies. Inflammatory statements like this have no place in today’s world.

Observation(s) of the Day:

I wish the dems would show the same outrage for serial tax cheat Barney Frank as they do for Joe Wilson.

By dragging his feet putting pressure on Iran to quit their nuclear enrichment program, Obama may be pushing Israel into a war that Israel does not want. By not pushing Iran to quit the nuclear enrichment program, Israel may be forced to strike to protect itself. Armageddon!

If that happens, Obama becomes one of the larger mass murderers in history. Harsh? Maybe; but he has the power to go to Iran, with other European countries, and work this out. If he continues his delaying tactics, which will give Iran a better chance to finish its nuclear program, then he is either as stated or a damn fool. Because of his muslim upbringing, he may, and I say, may, be an closet anti Semite

Helloooo; Sarkozy to Obama:

The Jerusalem Post: After Paris warned that new sanctions against Teheran remained an option despite the likelihood of negotiations with Iran, French President Nicolas Sarkozy maintained that the Islamic republic was still working on a nuclear weapons program.

“It is a certainty to all of our secret services. Iran is working today on a nuclear [weapons] program,” Sarkozy told lawmakers from his UMP party on Tuesday, according to Press TV.

“We cannot let Iran acquire nuclear” weapons because it would also be a threat to Israel, he added.

Well, that’s a little embarrassing. The French President having to tell our president to get off his duff and help with putting pressure on Iran.

Under the Bus?

Days after the Census Bureau announced it would cut ties with the organizing group ACORN, and barely 24 hours after the Senate voted to withdraw funding from the lightning-rod activist group, the White House expressed support for measures to hold the group accountable for “unacceptable” behavior.

Characterizing the Census Bureau’s decision as a move based on a lack of confidence in ACORN’s ability to perform its expected duties, Gibbs said he was not sure whether the president would ask Democrats to pull back from any campaign-year collaboration with the group.

ACORN said that they will hire a private company to investigate these problems. A private Company? Why isn’t the FBI doing a RICO investigation of this group? Why isn’t the IRS doing a tax fraud investigation on this organization? Why isn’t HUD doing a loan fraud investigation?

If Obama throws these guys under the bus, I think he will try to prevent as much investigation of these people as he can, because if it would be found that these guys are truly the criminals that I think they are, Obama would end up with doo doo all over himself because of his long time close association with them. If they go, he wants them to go quietly without fanfare. And I suspect that he will still surreptitiously use them if he needs them.

NEW YORK POST: WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said yesterday she is clueless about an amendment to prohibit government funds for embattled ACORN, although it overwhelmingly passed the Senate Monday and the White House is calling for the group to be held accountable.

“I don’t even know what they passed,” Pelosi told The Post yesterday. “What did they do? They defunded it?”

The issue now goes to a House-Senate conference committee for a spending bill. Its fate is up to Democratic leaders, particularly Pelosi, since the House passed no such provision.

Do ya think that is all she is clueless about? I think not!

Terrorist activity is ramping up?

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: FBI agents with bomb-sniffing dogs Wednesday raided the Colorado apartment of an Afghan national linked to Al Qaeda and a plot to attack the New York City subway system.

Simultaneously, authorities swarmed over a nearby home believed to belong to a relative of Najibullah Zazi, hauling out boxes of evidence. ..

Earlier Queens raids turned up nine knapsacks and cell phones, raising concerns about bombers detonating simultaneous blasts as they did in the 2004 attack that killed 191 commuters in Spain.

Beware of muslims bearing knapsacks!

Harry Reid comes out against healthcare bill:

WASHINGTON - No sooner than the Senate Finance Committee’s chairman released his long-awaited health care bill today than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said it’s not good enough for Nevada.

Reid is concerned about the cash-poor state’s inability to boost Medicaid spending as would be required under the bill…

“I spoke to the Chair of the Finance Committee and he assured me that this bill will be improved for Nevada,” Reid said.

So let me get this straight. You are going to change the bill to favor Nevada and then what? The other states have to pick up the slack? Is Nevada more deserving than the rest of the states?

Another South American President to muzzle opposition media:

FORBES: Reuters: Argentina’s lower house debated Wednesday President Cristina Fernandez’s broadcast reform bill, which is expected to pass despite criticism from opposition parties that it will increase state control over the media

But critics say her main motive is to crush the powerful Grupo Clarin conglomerate, and opposition politicians also question elements of the reform such as the way the state will be able to assign frequencies in small cities and towns.

Fernandez and her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner, have been locked in a bitter dispute with Grupo Clarin since its news outlets criticized their handling of a farming crisis last year.

Fernandez’s bill comes against a backdrop of leftist leaders in Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela strengthening state media outlets and warring with traditional newspapers and broadcasters that have given their administrations deeply negative coverage.

In Venezuela, Socialist President Hugo Chavez has shut down radio stations and denied renewal of broadcast licenses

I wonder how far along Obama has come on whipping up a little surprise for Fox News.

Canada Health:

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) - The Canadian government sent body bags to some remote Indian reserves as it prepared for the winter flu season, sending a jarring message at odds with its promise that it’s ready for the H1N1 flu.

The body bags went to some reserves in Manitoba, the western province in which some remote Indian communities were hard-hit by the flu in the spring, Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq said on Wednesday…

“This says to me they’ve given up,” the newspaper quoted Chief David Harper of Northern Manitoba’s Garden Hill reserve, which received some of the body bags, as saying.

Hey, Jimmy! Here is some racism that you can believe in! They send body bags instead of vaccine!

Dollar May Fall further:

Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) — The dollar may extend its decline after sliding to the weakest level versus the euro in almost a year as an increase in America’s industrial output encouraged investors to shift funds to higher-yielding assets.

I didn’t know anyone was still holding dollars.

U.S. becoming a has-been:

BREITBART: China’s increasingly advanced weaponry could undermine US military power in the Pacific, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Wednesday.

Echoing US intelligence guidelines released on Tuesday that warned of Beijing’s military modernization, Gates said US naval carriers and air bases in the Pacific faced new threats from China.

“In fact, when considering the military-modernization programs of countries like China, we should be concerned less with their potential ability to challenge the US symmetrically — fighter to fighter or ship to ship — and more with their ability to disrupt our freedom of movement and narrow our strategic options,” Gates said in a speech to the Air Force Association.

“Investments in cyber and anti-satellite warfare, anti-air and anti-ship weaponry, and ballistic missiles could threaten America’s primary way to project power and help allies in the Pacific — in particular our forward air bases and carrier strike groups,” Gates said in National Harbor, Maryland.

Hell, we won’t be able to afford the fuel for our missiles in another year, let alone our aircraft carriers.

Janet “Nappy” Napolitano screws up again:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Facing criticism for her handling of federal stimulus money, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she would not start any new border construction projects while the department reviewed how projects were selected.

Napolitano has faced questions since The Associated Press reported last month that Homeland Security officials did not follow their internal priority lists when choosing which border checkpoints would get money for renovations. Under a process that is secretive and susceptible to political influence, officials planned to spend millions at tiny checkpoints, passing over busier and higher-priority projects.

The criticism peaked Wednesday when a senior Senate Democrat, Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, said that, despite Napolitano’s assurances, he felt Homeland Security was treating the economic stimulus plan like a “bottomless pit” of taxpayer money. It was unusually pointed criticism from a member of the president’s own party about how the administration is handling economic recovery spending.

“There’s no common sense at all to a requirement that says you’ve got to put up a $15 million facility for a small port of entry that’s host to about five vehicles an hour,” Dorgan, whose state stood to receive $128 million for checkpoint improvements, said in a telephone interview.

You know, I like that Byron Dorgan, even if he is a Democrat. The guy uses his head.

I used to think Nappy had a pretty good mind, but it turns out she is a serial screw up.

U.S. abandons missile shield in Europe:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Thursday abandoned plans for a large missile defense shield in eastern Europe, promising instead a stronger, swifter defense system to protect U.S. allies against any threat from Iran.

In a brief announcement, Obama said he was dropping a plan to base interceptor missiles in Poland and build a radar system in the Czech Republic — a move that could ease tensions with Russia but fan regional fears of resurgent Kremlin influence.

I am afraid that Russian hawks will take this as a sign of backing down and push for further encroachment into neighboring countries.

I have read, sometime ago, that Obama secretly gave up missiles in long time ally Turkey as a condition for Russia agreeing to further nuclear disarmament. I have not seen anything on this since and have not been able to verify it.

Obama holds off on more troops:

Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama said he’ll hold off deciding whether to add more U.S. troops to the war in Afghanistan, as Democratic lawmakers raised concerns that he lacks a clear plan and measures of progress.

Hasn’t that been a problem in everything that Obama has done, so far.

A little good news for a change:

BREITBART: A 60-year-old US grandmother, blind for nearly a decade, has recovered her sight after surgeons implanted a tooth in her eye as a base to hold a tiny plastic lens, her doctors said Wednesday.

Sharron “Kay” Thornton, from the southern US state of Mississippi, lost her sight in 2000 when she came down with a case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare disease that scarred her cornea, according to the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

For patients whose bodies reject a transplanted or artificial cornea, this procedure “implants the patient’s tooth in the eye to anchor a prosthetic lens and restore vision,” said Thornton’s surgeon Victor Perez.

Incredible

Hang in there

September 16, 2009 Breaking News

Did I not warn You?

I turned on the TV this morning at about 7:15 and guess what was on the tube. A black guy on a tirade about the fact that all of the opposition to Obama, including the DC tea party, is due to racism!!!! They certainly are not wasting any time.

But, to their credit, they understand that there is a significant portion of the public that will take them at their word and believe this crap! Keep in mind my noting, a few days ago, of an interview with Juan Williams, black and liberal correspondent to NPR, who was on the mall mixing with the people. He said that he couldn’t have been treated better; that people would recognize him and come over and chat with him. He said that there was absolutely no hint of racism in these people.

So, don’t you buy into their racism crap, either.

Obama spending more of your money for your own good:

Obama announced that he is moving the 35 mpg gas mileage requirement up 4 years to 2012 and requiring the automakers to control green house gases, at the same time.

That’s just what our automakers need right now.

He is good enough to inform us that it will raise the cost of our cars by $1,300.00, but that we will get it all back in savings. (Only $1,300.00?)

He appears to think that the automakers can just snap their fingers and make this happen.

And still more of your money for your own good:

CBS NEWS: The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent. A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration’s estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

Another estimate puts the cost as high as $3,100 per year per family.

As I have previously pointed out, the government, under any administration, is notoriously inaccurate in their cost estimates of a program that they want to implement.

However, given Obama’s admission to the San Francisco Chronicle, early in the campaign, that the cap and trade bill would cause our utility bills to skyrocket, I tend to lean toward the high side.

Quotes of the Day:

“Life’s tough……it’s even tougher if you’re stupid.”

– John Wayne

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

– Barack Obama

Unfortunately, we are beginning to understand what the second one means and what the first one says about us. Thanx Dick

Carter falls back on the tired tirade:

In an interview Monday with NBC’s Brian Williams, former President Jimmy Carter said he has been extremely bothered by the heightened climate of racial and other hate speech since the election of President Barack Obama.

IF there is racial speech against Obama, it must be coming from Plains, Georgia because I sure haven’t heard any. The disagreement that I most hear is about his policies and his Marxist bent.

Remember, I told you to expect more of this; and here it is!

Question of the Day:

When is Attorney General, Eric Holder, going to launch a task force investigate the justice department’s Bolt out of the Blue dropping of the charges against the Black Panthers accused of (and filmed) intimidating voters at the polls?

Obama’s health prescription a problem for Democrats:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Taken off guard, Democrats at work on health care legislation are grappling with President Barack Obama’s nationally televised insistence on immediate access to insurance for those with pre-existing medical conditions, as well as richer Medicare prescription drug benefits than originally envisioned. (In 2012, of course)

Additionally, Obama’s pledge to hold the overall cost of legislation to about $900 billion over a decade has spread concern among House Democrats, who have long contemplated a costlier measure.

Yet another late complication, according to several Democrats, is the president’s statement that he will not sign a bill “if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period. And to prove that I’m serious, there will be a provision in this plan that requires us to come forward with more spending cuts if the savings we promised don’t materialize.” Those additional cuts may just come from Medicare.

UPDATE:

New development: I watched the Democratic representative from Oregon ask the question today of how they (congers) were going to go home and tell their constituents

that the cost of their “free” health care will start out at 13% of their (our) annual income. Given the governments skill at estimating the cost of programs, it will probably move to the 20% range very quickly. That is in addition to the other taxes you owe to support all of the other programs.

I have had several of my Liberal friends tell me that they actually are in favor of higher taxes. I am here to tell you, they are going to get their wish in spades.

More trouble for the Dems:

ABC NEWS: Following up on his This Week appearance where he promised to fight on for the public option, Sen. Jay Rockefeller blasted the draft bill produced by Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus: “there is no way in its present form that I vote for it unless it changes in the amendment process by vast amounts.”

He’s not alone. Fellow Finance Committee member Ron Wyden is livid too. Expect a rocky mark-up next week. As one top Democrat told me, the fundamental problem is that Democrats “are being asked to support a bipartisan bill that doesn’t have bipartisan support.” The compromise without the cover.

Rockefeller is way out there in the far left pasture. Still, he knows what it will take for him to remain a member of the “exclusive club” in DC.

Consider yourself forewarned:

NEW YORK TIMES: It’s going to be awfully hard to avoid President Obama on television this Sunday.

The president is going to appear on five Sunday talk shows – five – to press his case for health care, White House officials disclosed. That is a presidential record.

Mr. Obama is going to appear on This Week with George Stephanopoulos on ABC. And Meet the Press on NBC. And Face the Nation on CBS. In between, he is going to sit down for interviews on CNN and Univision. (Fox News didn’t make the cut).

My eyes are glazing over already.

One Trick Pony?

Sept. 16 (Bloomberg) — Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said he’s worried that lawmakers will hamper U.S. central bank efforts to rein in its monetary stimulus, and that inflation might “swamp” the bond market.

“It’s the politics in the United States that worries me, whether the Congress will basically feel comfortable” with the Fed withdrawing its stimulus, Greenspan said in a broadcast to Tokyo clients of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. today. He later said that “if inflation rears its head, it will swamp long-term markets,” referring to bonds.

I am beginning to get the feeling that Greenspan may be a one trick pony. The only thing I remember him worrying about is inflation, a worthy thing to worry about, but now the issues are so much larger; and complicated.

The major threat of inflation comes from the continued huge deficit spending of the administration, not from congress screwing with the Fed.

Dem Senator warns of big tax on middle class:

It’s not every day that you hear a Democratic senator charge that a fellow Democrat is proposing to raise taxes on the middle class, but that is what happened on Tuesday when Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., ripped into the health-care bill developed by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mt., the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. The Baucus proposal would impose, starting in 2013, a 35 percent excise tax on insurance companies for “high-cost plans” — defined as those above $8,000 for individuals and $21,000 for family plans. (Do you think that insurance companies might pass that tax on to consumers, making them less attractive then public insurance? Pretty clever; making the insurance companies fund their own demise.) Health economists believe a tax on high-priced benefits could help slow the growth of health costs by making consumers more sensitive to prices. The tax contemplated by Baucus is also a big revenue raiser. It is expected to raise $200 billion, money that Baucus is hoping to use to pay for subsidies for the uninsured. The West Virginia Democrat worries, however, that a lot of middle class workers, like the coal miners in his state, will end up facing “a big, big tax” under the Baucus bill because they currently enjoy generous employer-provided health care benefits which they receive tax free. Referring to Baucus, Rockefeller said, “He should understand that (his proposal) means that virtually every single coal miner is going to have a big, big tax put on them because the tax will be put on the company and the company will immediately pass it down and lower benefits because they are self insured, most of them, because they are larger. They will pass it down, lower benefits, and probably this will mean higher premiums for coal miners who are getting very good health care benefits for a very good reason. That is, like steelworkers and others, they are doing about the most dangerous job that can be done in America.” “So that’s not really a smart idea,” Rockefeller continued. “In fact, it’s a very dangerous idea, and I’m not even sure the coal miners in West Virginia are aware that this is what is waiting if this bill passes.”

Hasn’t Rockefeller heard that Obama plans to exempt union insurance plans from the tax?

White House secretly collecting data on visitors to their websites:

WASHINGTON TIMES: The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run

counter to President Obama’s promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet.

Marc Rotenberg, president of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, said the White House signaled that it would insist on open dealings with Internet users and, in fact, should feel obliged to disclose that it is collecting such information.

Mr. Obama signed a memo in January stating that his efforts to maintain an open government would be “unprecedented” and “ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation and collaboration.”

Don’t you just love all of this transparency? Are you beginning to see a pattern here? When Obama says that he will do something, you can pretty well count on him doing the opposite.

I have developed some real trust issues with this guy.

Hang in there,
