Observation of the Day:
Remember when Ronald Reagan was president? We had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama: And we have no Hope and no Cash.
Thanx Chickadee
Observations:
Speaking of Reagan, remember when he stood before the country and said that regardless of the fact that he was angry about what happened without his knowledge (Iran Contra), he was the president and is responsible for all that happens with his administration?
Anyone heard Obama take the blame for anything yet?
I just watched Dick Armey talking about the recession and the administration’s boondoggle of one advisor saying the recession is over and another following him up and saying that “No it’s not!”
The prevailing thought is that the administration decided that the recession is too good of a crisis to waste and it needs to keep it going so they can continue to spend huge sums of money and expand the federal government further.
Did you hear about the school teacher that sent a 2nd grader home with order that he get psychological counseling because he drew a picture of Jesus on the cross. The assignment was to draw a picture of something that reminded you of Christmas.
I have said it before and I will say it again. The state has to get God out of our political equation. The Constitution tells us that the people are directly endowed with powers from God. As long as the people have those powers, the government cannot have them. The scenario needs to be that all privileges are granted by the state. We saw that happen in the Soviet Union and other dictatorships.
Once God is removed, your freedoms will be removed. Whether you are religious or not, you best recognize that God stands between you and your acquiescence to a state run dictatorship.
Iran has test fired its latest missile successfully, one that is easily capable of delivering a weapons payload to Israel. Nice going Mr. President.
The Arab Gulf states have notified the world that they are launching their own currency as a way to have more say in the international exchange rates and it may replace the dollar as the official exchange medium for petroleum.
The rest of the world sees what the administration’s policies are doing to the value of the dollar; why can’t the administration?
Joe Lieberman is driving the far left absolutely bonkers! He has managed to insert himself into the epicenter of the health care bill debate. He has now made his vote absolutely critical to the passing of the bill.
I mentioned sometime ago that we would have a bill passed, but I wasn’t sure in what form. I am still not sure. However, with Lieberman being in the center of this, he is now helping to craft the bill and the last I heard, he was not for a public option, nor was he for opening Medicare to 55 year olds.
It also appears, given the president’s abysmal poll numbers, that he is ready to do anything for a win. If that means throwing the far left liberals under the bus on this health care bill, so be it. I think he will sign anything that says “Health Care Bill” on the top, whether anything follows the title or not. He just needs a win.
There is some concern that his inability to get things done, and get them done to the satisfaction of the far left has eroded his support among liberals, which has dropped to about 88%. I suspect that the fall in those polls don’t overly concern Obama, and probably rightly so, because, come election time, who else are they going
to vote for? Sarah Palin? Tim Pawlenty? Unlikely. The worst that they could do is stay home from the polls.
Senator Roland Burris, who took Obama’s senate seat and since has been censured by the ethics committee for dealings with impeached former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, has now stated that he will not vote for a health care bill that doesn’t contain a public option.
One can’t help but wonder if he hasn’t been watching Joe Lieberman. Hasn’t the democratic party extracted a promise from Burris that he won’t run for another term? Apparently, he thinks this his last chance at immortality.
Howard Dean, former chairman of the democratic party is on record as saying that with the stripping of the early Medicare buy-in, the health care bill should be killed.
He argues that in the rush to pass a health care bill, lawmakers have essentially stripped it of true reforms — mainly the choices it would give to people — and given too much to special interest groups and insurance companies, the chief executives of which, Dean says, would get 27 percent of the money Americans contribute.
“We’ve gotten to this stage … in Washington where passing any bill is a victory, (See above) and that’s the problem,” Dean said. “Decisions are being about the long-term future of this country for short-term political reasons, and that’s never a good sign.”
Actually, current polls show that about 60% of Americans oppose the health care bill. And yet these S.O.B.’s continue to try to ram it down our throat!
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and his seatmate, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), were chatting on their phones before takeoff when an announcement indicated that it was time to turn off the phones.
Both senators kept talking.
According to a House Republican aide who happened to be seated nearby, the notoriously chatty New York Democrat referred to a flight attendant as a “bitch” after she ordered him to turn off his phone before takeoff.
Apparently, she told him that the whole plane was waiting to move from the gate because he was still on the phone.
The ACLU has come out against the Obama administration for purchasing the Illinois prison to which to transfer the Gitmo prisoners. They are upset with a new “Gitmo North” It is kind of stupid when you think about it. He gets to brag that he kept his promise to close Gitmo by transferring the inmates to another “Gitmo”.
China has now banned individuals from registering internet domain names and launched a review of millions of existing personal websites in the toughest government censorship drive so far on the internet.
As of Monday, people applying to register a domain name in China must present a company chop and a business license, the China Internet Network Information Center, a government-backed body, said in a statement.
A great new idea for Obama’s internet czar.
Prince Charles, who recently told the world that we are all going to die if we don’t reduce carbon dioxide within the next six months flew to the climate summit on a private jet.
Have you noticed how everyone has piled on Tiger Woods for his serial indiscretions? (I am not saying that he doesn’t deserve it) But, I suspect that there are many who not too long ago championed Slick Willy and his serial indiscretions and said that they didn’t matter. And Slick Willy is still a Rock Star.
Now you know that things are getting bad… The Sahara in Las Vegas has closed two of its three hotel towers for the winter season because of lack of demand.
Al Gore is continuing to refuse to answer journalist’s questions regarding issues with his film and his stand on global warming. The other day, an aide recently called U.N. armed security guards to remove a journalist that was asking inconvenient questions of Gore. A Gore aide, in this instance, grabbed the journalist’s microphone and broke it.
I don’t know why liberals don’t catch on to this guy. Even if it were a pet theory of mine, I certainly would want to know the truth.
The former office manager for Senator Ted Kennedy has been indicted on six counts of federal theft and fraud. It was found that he stole over $75,000.00 over the past 5 or 6 years in a phony bonus scam.
Birds of a feather…
The 4th grade class strikes again:
AP: It wasn’t a state dinner, and they didn’t crash it on purpose.
Still, a Georgia couple who showed up at the White House a day early for a tour somehow wound up at an invitation-only breakfast with President Barack Obama and the first lady. It left the White House once again explaining how people who were not on an event guest list wound up being ushered into the presidential mansion anyway.
Keep raising hell,
Glenn

December 14, 2009 Breaking News
14. December 2009 by Glenn.
Quote of the Day:
“In protest of the planned surge in Afghanistan, Code Pink and others marched and chanted against…Sens. Jon Kyl and John McCain, Republicans who have no control over the surge. Video of the protests, furthermore depict no signs bearing so much as the word “Obama” on them. Amazing, this capacity to miss the enormous donkey in the room.”
Doug MacEarchern, editorial writer
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I too am puzzled at the seeming unconsciousness of much of the liberal faction.
Observations:
As I write this, there is a pick-up basketball game going on across the street at the neighbor’s house. I don’t know why, but I find that kind of reassuring, almost soothing, if for no other reason than it relates back to my experiences as a youth, and I find anything relating back to my youth is nearly non-existent in this full bore society that we live in.
One can only wonder if the Lord had this in mind when giving us finite life spans. In the early days, technology didn’t move that fast and the Bible is full of people with life-spans that exceed ours, significantly.
Today, the rate of change is so fast that many have a difficult time dealing with it, especially when they are from a time when change was slower. It seems that the first 20 years of our life tends to set the frame of reference through which we view the remainder of our lives.
And of course, the ability to handle great change varies with the individual. However, I have great faith in the human condition.
I think, in many cases, the individual refusal to embrace change is due to the fact that the individual isn’t required to do so. It may not be comfortable for them not to accept change, but it is not something that they can’t live with. Which brings me to one of my long held truths: “Most people will not necessarily do what is in their own best interests.”
In times of severe forced change, most people will persevere and survive, although being happy about it is not necessarily an attribute of the acceptance.
Perhaps I should apologize here for pulling an Andy Rooney on you.
However, not to worry. With Obama’s new insurance program being funded by gutting Medicare and the consequential absence of medical services for seniors, the life expectancy should drop by at least 10 years in short order, thereby sparing us the agony of dealing with all that change.
The latest spending bill that was just passed contains over 4000 pork projects at a cost to tax payers of over $4 Billion. How is that for being taken care of by your congress. Republicans are demanding that Obama veto the bill. Obama did say that he was going to, unequivocally, cut out wasteful spending when he was campaigning. Just more bovine exhaust? I think so.
And if that isn’t bad enough, the HILL reports that Congress is on pace to spend $11 billion on disclosed earmarks in fiscal year 2010, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense. That’s about $4 billion less than last year’s cost of earmarks, which fund projects at the specific request of lawmakers. Disclosed earmarks totaled nearly $15 billion in fiscal year 2009, the groups said.
Next to the term “congress” in the dictionary, is the lilting statement, “What, me worry?
Sunday, I read in our local rag an AP article trumpeting the fact that the AP had extensively investigated the climategate emails and found little if anything that would refute the science. The AP did itself proud with an article that took up a full page in the paper. I can’t help but wonder if the paper would commit that much space to detractors of the theory.
In reading this, I am beginning to realize that professional writers do with the written word what politicians do with the spoken word.
They stated that scientists harbored private doubts “however slight and fleeting” They did not qualify this. They did not support this. It is left to the reader to assume that the doubts of scientists were of no consequence. But the article does not support that with further information regarding the degree of slightness or fleetingness, or lack thereof.
They went on to say that the scientists were so convinced by their own science and so driven by a cause “that unless you are with them, you’re against them”, according to Mark Frankel, director of scientific freedom, responsibility and law at the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The disconcerting part of this statement is that the scientists were driven by a cause. I have always been told that science should be totally objective and dispassionate. When you introduce a ‘cause’ into the situation, as we have found out with the Obama administration, all lies are justified if they support the cause.
I should state here that I am not saying that all of the scientists involved in this lied or that all of the research is a lie.
They reported that Frankel saw no evidence of falsification or fabrication of data, ” although concerns could be raised about some instances of very generous interpretations.” Again, no qualifying as to how severe the concerns are or even if ‘concerns’ is a euphemism for a more severe word. “Interpretations”, at its worst, can be a euphemism for fraud.
A concern over interpretations, without supporting data one way or the other, leaves it to the reader to surmise that it is no big deal, but does not say that outright.
The article goes on to state: “One of the most disturbing elements suggests an effort to avoid sharing scientific data with critics skeptical of global warming. It is not clear if any data was destroyed; two U.S. researchers denied it.”
Now this is getting to the crux of why I am reading this with such a jaundiced eye. We know for a fact that the underlying temperature data developed since we started measuring such things was purposefully destroyed.
This is important because the temperatures were taken by different methods and under different conditions over the years and climatologists used formulas to try and standardize what the temperatures would be if all were taken by the same methods and under the same conditions. These formulas introduce a certain amount of uncertainty into the equation to begin with.
That said, by destroying the underlying temperature data, it is virtually impossible to check the accuracy of the science that underlies the entire global warming theory.
The article goes on to describe the various ways that scientists used to refuse Freedom of Information act requests for information on their science. It further says
that” this raises science ethics question because free access to data is important so other can repeat experiments as part of the scientific method.”
Well, I should hope so. Remember the scientists that claimed that they had created ‘cold fusion’? When others couldn’t reproduce the science using the claimants methods, their claim was debunked. Of course, with the underlying data destroyed, that can never happen with global warming.
The article goes on to say that “the emails showed stunning disdain for global warming skeptics.” Among other more gentler disdain (I am not including the physical threats against skeptics) contrarians were compared with the communist baiting Joseph McCarthy and Somali pirates. ( I often wonder if liberals use Joseph McCarthy as the boogy man to keep their young children in line) They also called them out and out frauds.
Liberals do the same thing with conservatives all of the time, at least until they are backed into a corner with facts. This gets back to the “cause” issue.
The article further describes efforts of a leading scientist to black ball a professional journal that published an article that called into question the science. They went on to say that the article was partially funded by the petroleum industry.
Dan Sarewitz, a science policy professor at Arizona State University observed,
“We talk about science as this pure ideal and the scientific method as if it is something out of a cookbook, but research is a social and human activity full of all of the failings of society and humans, and this reality gets totally magnified by the high political stakes here.”
I wholeheartedly disagree and agree with Dan. I believe the scientific method should be something out of a cookbook. It is a protocol established to prevent junk science, which we seem to have plenty of today.
I agree that in today’s world, the research is subject to the human failings and the high political stakes, which is why I am so skeptical.
At the end of the laborious article, they finally deal with Stephen McIntyre, a retired Canadian mathematician and economist who has said that “We find that the authors are overreaching in the conclusions that they’re trying to draw from the data that they have.”
In refusing McIntyre’s requests for information they have alleged that he would distort and misuse the data given to him.
McIntyre also stated that he has refrained from comment on the emails because it could be construed as “piling on”. One of the leading scientists, Michael Mann, has called McIntyre a “bozo”, a “fraud” and a “moron”. (He has also been physically threatened by a leading scientist.)
And finally, the AP says that it is mentioned several times in the emails, usually in reference to a published story. One scientists says his remarks were reported with “a bit of journalistic license” and “I would have rephrased or re-expressed some of what was written if I had seen it before it was released.”
I think that this last paragraph is tantamount to an admission by the AP that its writers do have an agenda. While the scientist’s words are carefully chosen, I doubt seriously that he would have bothered to comment unless the journalistic license was somewhat out of bounds.
I think that Sarawitz’s observation regarding the tremendous political and financial pressure on scientists is right on and a major reason why I have concerns with a lot of the science.
A liberal reader accuses me of being a “No” guy and just against everything. That is not exactly true. If there is truly global warming, I think we need to know about it. However, for the reasons stated above, I am not sure.
The other issue is the punishment that the administration is about to deal out to the citizens of this country in the form of the cap and trade bill, regardless of whether any other major polluting countries go with us in this effort or not.
Given the out of control spending that the administration has embarked on, regardless of (or because of) the consequences, the bill could bankrupt a whole new portion of the population due to more job losses.
If we need to start taking actions to reduce greenhouse gasses, it should be based on solid science and instituted in an orderly and phased manner which won’t bankrupt the country.
As I have pointed out in the past, Al Gore has become exceedingly wealthy on global warming and there is a plethora of large corporations and individuals that are waiting for cap and trade, to start making billions in profits.
I am told that the cap and trade was dreamed up by Kenneth Lay, former chairman of ENRON (the fraud king of the 20th century) and Al Gore (the fraud king of the 21st century?). I do not know if that is true or not but it came from a nefarious individual who I think would know.
Global Warming update:
ABC NEWS: People in the north-central part of the Canadian province of Ontario are digging out after one of the worst snow storms on record…
Officials say emergency road crews clearing roads are completely exhausted. Officers at one police detachment said they could not see their parked patrol cars buried under the snow…
Meanwhile, western Canada is in the grip of a cold snap with temperatures plummeting anywhere from -40 to -50 degrees Celsius.
2. A snowy dusting in Victoria’s summer
VICTORIA, AUS– WEATHERZONE: Most people consider summer a time to wear shorts and thongs wherever one pleases, with little thought of ski jackets or snowboards. However Victoria’s Mount Baw Baw saw a light dusting of snow, and it’s already two weeks into summer. A cold front crossed the nation’s southeast during Thursday, bringing gusty
winds and some good falls to southern Victoria. Mount Baw Baw was one of the many locations to receive these falls, 31 millimetres in fact. Part of this was snow, around five centimetres, not enough to rejuvenate the ski season, but enough to create an excited buzz. Melbourne itself didn’t miss out. The city recorded 10 millimetres, now making a total (so far) of 30 millimetres. Saturday will see winds ease and isolated showers abate in southern Victoria. It is also unlikely that there’ll be any more summer snow… at least until next Thursday.
As I write this, temperatures today in Melbourne are 12 ° Celsius. (and by the way, it is Dec. 15th there)
3. Winter weather increases dolphin, turtle strandings
ORLEANS (Cape Cod)— The high tides and harsh winds have wreaked havoc on marine mammals in the past 10 days, causing several dolphin strandings, according to a local animal rescue official…
The high tides, strong winds and now bitter cold have combined to make it difficult for the marine mammals moving through the region. It was 2-degrees with the wind chill at Rock Harbor Friday…
Dolphins aren’t the only marine animals struggling with the harsh weather conditions. More than 100 endangered Kemp’s ridley turtles have required rescue in recent weeks.
Maybe the guys that were predicting an ice age back in 1975 were right!
I had to chuckle at reports that Obama is savaging Wall Street in particular and banks in general for worsening the economy’s downturn. Here these guys thought they had a friend in Obama when he met with them at the beginning of his presidency and talked to them about back door deals.
They are finding out that liberals have no friends when it comes to saving their own skin (perhaps I should substitute politicians for liberals here, but their deceit and hypocrisy has been positively breathtaking of late). Even Wall Street’s ongoing relationship with Timothy Geithner may not help them.
Of course, this could just be another “Chicago Lip Service op” for Obama (which he is becoming known for) and he really doesn’t intend to do anything about it.
The banking industries distress with Obama is becoming apparent from their current number one pursuit of raising enough money to pay back the bailout money they took and get out from under Obama’s thumb.
That said, I think that the banking industry pretty much deserves everything that they get, but I still don’t want to see them taken over by the government. However, I have little sympathy for them.
As I have reported on in the past and you have no doubt heard on the news, no matter where in the country that you live, the battle between our Sheriff
Arpaio and Homeland Security Director Janet “Nappy” Napolitano (the Sanctuary queen) still rages.
Now Senators from Arizona John McCain and Jon Kyl have sent inquiries as to why the Sheriff was removed from the Federal 287 program when he has committed no wrong doing under the law (as determined by Nappy’s own state investigations as well as investigations instigated by her by the congress, the FBI and even the United Nations). In addition, they ask what has to be done in order that the Sheriff’s department can once more qualify under the 287 program. They have not received an answer as of yet.
Now, we find out that there is trouble in the U.S., AKA muslim paradise. A spate of arrests of U.S. grown muslims for terrorist activities has put to rest some of the Kum Bye Ya chants of the liberals of “why can’t we all just get along”.
In a report nearly a year ago, I took exception to the then prevailing notion that all muslims were a benign presence in this country. The prevailing paradigm was that only Europe had trouble with muslims because they didn’t do as good of a job of assimilating them as we did.
Folks, when one’s religion tells one that all people, who do not believe as one does, need to be converted or killed, you are going to have a problem, sooner or later!
ATTENTION: PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I reported on this within the past month but now the head of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Toxicology program has said that consumers should avoid using foods packaged in containers containing Bisphenol A (BPA). Asked if consumers should be worried about BPA, she retorted, “Absolutely”.
It should be noted that in 2008, the FDA declared BPA to be safe for all uses.
(However, the agency is reconsidering that ruling after its own advisory board found that FDA scientists ignored valuable studies that found the chemical caused harm.)
Do you wonder if those FDA scientists were compromised?
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel investigated and found that chemical industry lobbyists wrote entire sections of the FDA’s original assessment. Emails confirmed that FDA scientists relied on lobbyists to examine BPA’s risks, track legislation to ban it and even monitor press coverage.
Last year, six baby bottle manufacturers promised to discontinue BPA in their products, citing concern for consumer safety.
Canada has declared BPA to be a toxin and prohibits its use in baby bottles.
So what about adults? Are we chopped liver?
The financial stakes in this little fraud are a lot smaller than those in global warming. I wonder if anything will happen to the FDA scientists.
My suggestion to you is the same as I made before, contact manufacturers and tell them that you are going to stop using their product unless they certify on the outside of their product that the packaging is BPA free.
BPA was originally invented as an estrogen replacement. Now, aside from its toxicity, didn’t I read where estrogen is complicit in several cancers?
Do you feel used and abused? You should!
Time for an overhaul, Folks,
Glenn

December 12, 2009 Breaking News
12. December 2009 by Glenn.
Quote of the Day:
“A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours. A recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his.”
–Ronald Reagan in 1980
Just as apropos today.
Observations:
John Kerry has announced that he will fly to the climate summit on a commercial airline as, his representative says, he has done when going to other climate summits. What they are not telling you is that when he isn’t one his way to a climate summit, he flies a private jet.
The Financial Post from Canada is calling for a worldwide one-child policy in support of China’s position on global warming. The intelligence behind this is the following:
-If only one child per female was born as of now, the world’s population would drop from its current 6.5 billion to 5.5 billion by 2050, according to a study done for scientific academy Vienna Institute of Demography.
-By 2075, there would be 3.43 billion humans on the planet. This would have immediate positive effects on the world’s forests, other species, the oceans, atmospheric quality and living standards.
-Doing nothing, by contrast, will result in an unsustainable population of nine billion by 2050.
Unfortunately, the geniuses in Copenhagen don’t even have this on their agenda.
Norwegians, ever the clever ones, have replaced Obama, who stiffed them on several traditional appearances after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, has replaced him at the Save the Children concert with a cardboard cutout!
Geez, would I like to do that here.
And a little global warming update for you; Seattle had record low temps for the second day in a row. I can hardly wait for winter to arrive.
A new poll shows that 44% of respondents would rather have W back as president over Obama. Given W’s horrendous ratings during his last term, that says a lot.
Word has it that Tiger’s wife has told him that he has to give up golf until the kids are old enough to travel with him, or she is leaving. From what I have been able to learn, he is seriously considering it. Talk about a short leash.
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s wife has filed for divorce due to his Argentina fling. It is a good thing that he dodged impeachment because he will need the job. She was an heiress who is now going to keep her money. Life for him will change.
A new amnesty bill is about to be introduced. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) will introduce his “Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity” on Tuesday, December 15.
Have you noticed that when liberals talk about anything that they believe in that they use words indicating just the opposite of what they mean?
For instance, the above proclamation …”Americas’ Security and Prosperity”; or when they talk about a new bill that has penalties for the population for not doing what they are told or removes a freedom currently enjoyed by the population, the word “Democratic” will positively explode in the number of times it is used.
With only about 22% of the population admitting to be liberal, we have a serious case of the tail wagging the dog here.
Iranian protests grow more radical:
NEW YORK TIMES: BEIRUT, Lebanon — In the video, one of hundreds filmed during Iran’s nationwide demonstrations on Monday, an enraged woman’s voice can be heard as a paramilitary truck runs a motorbike off the road amid a crowd of fleeing protesters.
“This is the Islamic Republic!” she shouts, gesturing at the vehicle.
That message has grown increasingly common in recent protests, as demonstrators have made it clear that their target is not just President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or the disputed election that returned him to power in June, but the entire foundation of Iran’s theocracy.
See how hard it is to get rid of them once they get their program set up in the central government? The government, through its radical actions, is exposing the population of Iran to the possibility of nuclear attack, and they don’t care.
Lowdown on the Climate summit and more lies:
USA TODAY: COPENHAGEN — Ray Weiss looks at the chanting protesters, harried delegates and the 20,000 other people gathered here for a global warming summit and wonders: What’s the fuss all about?
Weiss, a geochemist who studies atmospheric pollution at San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography, says the numbers at the core of the debate in Copenhagen are flawed.
Specifically, he says the cuts that countries including the USA are proposing in greenhouse gas emissions are difficult to measure and highly susceptible to manipulation by government officials and companies.
“I don’t see the point in doing all this if the numbers are so far off,” Weiss said, shaking his head as he watched conference attendees hurry by Thursday. “When you hear politicians tell you that they can measure these things, just because they passed a deal in Copenhagen, I think you should take that with a few grains of salt.”
Most of the summit’s attention has focused on exactly how much countries will commit to cutting emissions of gases that data suggest are causing the earth to warm. Yet some scientists, legal experts and delegates say the hardest part of any deal in Copenhagen will be measuring — and then enforcing — whatever politicians decide.
Those two issues are “the iceberg on which the entire conference could founder,” says Peter Goldmark, a program director for the Environmental Defense Fund, a non-profit group.
In a study last year, Weiss and colleagues took air samples and found that levels of nitrogen trifluoride, an industrial gas 17,000 times more potent than carbon dioxide as an atmospheric warming agent, were four times above what industry estimates had suggested. And the EPA is telling us that carbon dioxide (what we humans exhale) is dangerous and needs to be regulated. The fix is in!
He says that monitoring equipment must be significantly upgraded around the world to prevent similar fudging of data if a deal is reached in Copenhagen.
Todd Stern, a lead negotiator for the U.S. delegation, says he’s pushing for a system that, after Copenhagen, “allows countries to look at each other and get confidence that everybody is doing what they said they were doing.”
However, governments in India and China — which is the world’s biggest carbon emitter — have resisted draft proposals that would allow for international verification of data.
“Conferences like Copenhagen allow the politicians to go back home and say ‘We’ve got a deal!’ but then the targets are almost never kept,” says Lomberg, who advocates more research and development of clean energy sources to solve environmental problems.
Even if governments sign a legally binding treaty — which Stern says could happen “soon” after Copenhagen — there is disagreement among countries about how to enforce any deal.
The Kyoto Protocol, the 1997 framework under which many countries (not including the USA) agreed to emissions cuts, contains no financial penalties for governments that fail to meet their goals. Did you know the Kyoto Protocol exempted Denmark’s shipping industry, one of the most serious polluters in the world, from regulation; no wonder Denmark is feeling so green.
The Obama administration is advocating a “sunshine policy” in which countries would not face serious consequences for non-compliance with emissions goals, says Stephen Porter, an attorney with the Center for International Environmental Law .
“There’s no hammer, no nothing,” Porter says. He says China would be unlikely to agree to such a condition, and the U.S. may not currently be in a position to pressure its biggest creditor for more concessions.
That may not be enough to please those in the Senate, which is deliberating an energy bill that would implement whatever emissions cuts Obama promises in Copenhagen. Sen. Benjamin Cardin, D-Md., is among those who say any deal must carry strong enforcement measures as a way to protect U.S. industry from its competitors overseas.
One possibility would be “border adjustments,” a provision that would allow countries to impose tariffs or other penalties on trading partners who fail to meet their environmental promises, says Duncan Hollis, a Temple University law professor and former attorney for treaty affairs at the State Dept. However, Hollis says such a provision would likely be years away. Since when have trade tariffs ever worked? “From a lawyer’s perspective, or even as a parent, for God’s sake, unless you set a set of rules, your kids won’t respect them,” Porter says. “This summit is no different.”
This is looking more and more like another complicated scam to get money from the citizens of this country and to pump huge profits into the pockets of carbon traders and the government. Obama doesn’t want penalties with his so-called sunshine policy. It is not important. Just being able to levy the fees is important.
Besides, China and India have already said that they won’t go along with them. This is all smoke and mirrors.
If you don’t think that there is a lot of money in this game, Al Gore went from a net worth of $2 million to over $100 million off of this stuff and it hasn’t even really started yet.
For feds, more get 6-figure salaries
Average pay $30,000 over private sector
USA TODAY: The number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries has exploded during the recession, according to a USA TODAY analysis of federal salary data.
Federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession’s first 18 months — and that’s before overtime pay and bonuses are counted.
Federal workers are enjoying an extraordinary boom time — in pay and hiring — during a recession that has cost 7.3 million jobs in the private sector.
The highest-paid federal employees are doing best of all on salary increases. Defense Department civilian employees earning $150,000 or more increased from 1,868 in December 2007 to 10,100 in June 2009, the most recent figure available.
When the recession started, the Transportation Department had only one person earning a salary of $170,000 or more. Eighteen months later, 1,690 employees had salaries above $170,000.
The trend to six-figure salaries is occurring throughout the federal government, in agencies big and small, high-tech and low-tech. The primary cause: substantial pay raises and new salary rules.
“There’s no way to justify this to the American people. It’s ridiculous,” says Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, a first-term lawmaker who is on the House’s federal workforce subcommittee.
Jessica Klement, government affairs director for the Federal Managers Association, says the federal workforce is highly paid because the government employs skilled people such as scientists, physicians and lawyers. She says federal employees make 26% less than private workers for comparable jobs.
USA TODAY analyzed the Office of Personnel Management’s database that tracks salaries of more than 2 million federal workers. Excluded from OPM’s data: the White House, Congress, the Postal Service, intelligence agencies and uniformed military personnel.
The growth in six-figure salaries has pushed the average federal worker’s pay to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector.
Just thought you would like to know just how screwed the citizens of this country are.
A back door deal in the health plan:
WASHINGTON – (AP) A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer, prompting a rebuke from patient advocates.
The legislation that originally passed the Senate health committee last summer would have banned such limits, but a tweak to that provision weakened it in the bill now moving toward a Senate vote.
As currently written, the Senate Democratic health care bill would permit insurance companies to place annual limits on the dollar value of medical care, as long as those limits are not “unreasonable.” The bill does not define what level of limits would be allowable, delegating that task to administration officials.
Can you not just feel the compassion of those democrats oozing out of Washington to embrace you-all?
UPDATE: The president, caught with his pants down in this little charade, has now agreed to do what he can to close the loophole.
O’Reilly slams ‘Law & Order,’ calls Wolf ‘despicable’:
THE LIVE FEED: Bill O’Reilly went after “Law & Order” franchise creator Dick Wolf on Thursday night’s “O’Reilly Factor” telecast, calling the producer a “despicable human being” whose veteran TV drama is “out of control.”
O’Reilly can certainly say that “L&O” threw the first punch.
This week’s episode of “Law & Order: SVU” featured a character played by John Larroquette talking to a detective and saying, “Limbaugh, Beck, O’Reilly, all of ‘em, they are like a cancer spreading ignorance and hate…They’ve convinced folks that immigrants are the problem, not corporations that fail to pay a living wage or a broken health care system…”
O’Reilly said the clip was “defamatory and outrageous” and played clips from past episodes of his Fox News program that showed the host defending “poor people who only want a better life.”
Wolf declined to comment.
I watch O’Reilly from time to time and I have found him to be reasonably balanced in his presentations and certainly not a liar, although he does have a certain conservative and common sense slant.
I find that the people that tend to call him a liar don’t watch him at all and are just parroting what they have heard others say. I find it amazing that people, including a couple of good friends of mine are so totally invested in their political views that when faced with overwhelming evidence to the contrary, they ignore it. They just don’t want to hear it.
That said, I do know that there are a bunch of liberals that do watch him and others on the Fox News channel to get both sides of the story. I take my hat off to them wanting to know the truth.
I have to admit that I am so tired of all of the Law and Order shows that I tend to think of them as some sort of a cancer. They are everywhere. Same tired formulas with different characters, over and over and over again.
It seems like you can find them, at any given time, on at least three channels, 24/7. I guess ‘cause they are cheap.
Al Sharpton Blasts Tiger Woods for Lack of Mistress Diversity:
The Rev. Al Sharpton held a press conference today to blast Tiger Woods for the lack of diversity among his mistresses. Sharpton claims that the lack of African-American women among Woods’ harem will have a negative effect on the black community, specifically young black girls. “Why is it that a man who calls himself black can’t bring himself to cheat on his wife with a black woman?” said Sharpton, speaking to a group of supporters in Harlem. “What does it say to young black girls everywhere when you pass them over? Shame on you, Tiger Woods. What would your daddy say?” Sharpton, who has long championed taking black women as mistresses, said that today’s black athletes need to stop neglecting black women when it comes to extramarital affairs, and should follow the examples of positive black role models such as Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom cheated on their wives with black women. Sharpton also stressed that cheating with African-American women would help the black community financially by giving black girls the chance to sell their stories to tabloids and gossip magazines. Added Sharpton, “I’m not asking you to not cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your own community.”
Just kidding…I think.

December 10, 2009 Breaking News
10. December 2009 by Glenn.
Today’s attachment is regarding Obama’s vile school czar and his activities with teen agers teaching extreme sex practices.
This administration is without question the most reprehensible collection of human beings that this country has had the misfortune of experiencing.
Folks, if you don’t get up in arms about this sick S.O.B. and contact your congressperson and/or the white house, then I am wasting my time writing this newsletter. This is not even sick, it is vile and perverted!
Observations:
A very short and succinct lesson on freedom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nf1OgV449g
The Chinese are now saying that the global warming issues should be addressed through population control and not carbon dioxide control. Many studies have connected population growth with increased emissions.
They went on to say that”Each $7 spent on basic family planning would reduce CO2 emissions by more than one ton” whereas it would cost $13 for reduced
deforestation, $24 to use wind technology, $51 for solar power, $93 for introducing hybrid cars and $131 electric vehicles.
The British government has infuriated bankers by placing an immediate 50% surtax on bonus’ paid by banks.
Obama and Geithner have such deep ties to Wall Street, I doubt that they will push that unless they can come up with a plan that sounds good but gives the bankers wiggle room to avoid the taxes.
A Palestinian shopkeeper and father portrayed as a terrorist in the movie “Bruno” is suing film star Sacha Baron Cohen, serial intern abuser David Letterman and others for libel and slander. And we should care, why?
Obama chastises republicans for frightening Americans:
THE HILL: President Barack Obama told House Republican leaders to “stop trying to frighten the American people” even as he and Democrats said they see a possibility for bipartisan cooperation on job creation legislation. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters that Obama made the admonition during a bipartisan meeting at the White House on Wednesday, producing a chart to show Republicans that “things are a lot better.”
I don’t need the republicans to frighten me. Obama and company are doing a super adequate job of that all by themselves.
Remember this in 2010:
POLITICO: In a bold but risky year-end strategy, Democrats are preparing to raise the federal debt ceiling by as much as $1.8 trillion before New Year’s rather than have to face the issue again prior to the 2010 elections.
“We’ve incurred this debt. We have to pay our bills,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told POLITICO Wednesday. And the Maryland Democrat confirmed that the anticipated increase could be as high as $1.8 trillion — nearly twice what had been assumed in last spring’s budget resolution for the 2010 fiscal year.
The leadership is betting that it’s better for the party to take its lumps now rather than risk further votes over the coming year. But the enormity of the number could create its own dynamic, much as another debt ceiling fight in 1985 gave rise to the Gramm-Rudman deficit reduction act mandating across-the-board spending cuts nearly 25 years ago.
These guys are just rotten. They couldn’t tell the truth if their lives depended on it.
Obama continues to impress people of the world:
GUARDIAN U.K.–Barack Obama’s trip to Oslo to pick up his Nobel peace award is in danger of being overshadowed by a row over the cancellation of a series of events normally attended by the prizewinner.
Norwegians are incensed over what they view as his shabby response to the prize by cutting short his visit.
The White House has cancelled many of the events peace prize laureates traditionally submit to, including a dinner with the Norwegian Nobel committee, a press conference, a television interview, appearances at a children’s event promoting peace and a music concert, as well as a visit to an exhibition in his honour at the Nobel peace centre.
He has also turned down a lunch invitation from the King of Norway.
According to a poll published by the daily tabloid VG, 44% of Norwegians believe it was rude of Obama to cancel his scheduled lunch with King Harald, with only 34% saying they believe it was acceptable.
I happen to think that they should be thankful not to have the gangster in their country any longer than necessary.
VERY QUIETLY OBAMA’S CITIZENSHIP CASE REACHES THE SUPREME COURT: AP- WASHINGTON D.C. - In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency, the group “Americans for Freedom of Information” has Released copies of President Obama’s college transcripts from Occidental College . Released today, the transcript school indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California.
The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama’s detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim. The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama’s legitimacy and qualification to serve as President. When reached for comment in London , where he has been in meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Obama smiled but refused comment on the issue. Britain ’s Daily Mail has also carried the story in a front-page article titled, “Obama Eligibility Questioned,” leading some to speculate that the story may overshadow economic issues on Obama’s first official visit to the U.K. In a related matter, under growing pressure from several groups, Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama’s legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey . This lawsuit claims Obama’s dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. Donofrio’s case is just one of 18 suits
brought by citizens demanding proof of Obama’s citizenship or qualification to serve as president. Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama’s campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records. Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still ongoing but that the final report will be provided to the U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder. Mr. Holder has refused to comment on the matter. LET OTHER FOLKS KNOW THIS NEWS, THE MEDIA WON’T ! Issue of Passport? While I’ve little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at FSM did so yesterday and believes the issue can be resolved by Obama answering one simple question: What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi ? So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later? And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi, what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers. It makes the debate over Obama’s citizenship a rather short and simple one. Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20? A : Yes, by his own admission. Q: What passport did he travel under? A: There are only three possibilities. 1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport, 2) He traveled with a British passport, or 3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport. Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981? A: No.. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department’s “no travel” list
in 1981. Conclusion: When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport. If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967. Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he
managed to become a “natural born” American citizen between 1981 and 2008.. Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better.
This story came to me as an email. I have not vetted this yet so I cannot swear to its accuracy. We can only hope.
Obama programs continue to put people out of work:
WASHINGTON TIMES: Chalk up another 500 to the list of jobs President Obama will need to create or save.
A Pittsburgh-based coal company, CONSOL Energy, will lay off nearly 500 of its West Virginia workers next year and its CEO blames environmentalists dead-set against mountaintop mining who have waged “nuisance” lawsuits for the job loss.
But CONSOL Energy’s political problems are not unique to the mining industry, which has suffered under the Obama Administration. The Environmental Protection Agency is already holding 79 surface mining permits in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. The EPA says these permits could violate the Clean Water Act and warrant “enhanced” review. And, agency went even further in October, announcing plans to revoke a permit for the Spruce No. 1 Mine in West Virginia.
The latest setback for the coal industry was announced on Tuesday when CONSOL Energy said close to 500 workers would lose jobs at their Fola Operations location near Bickmore, West Virginia in February 2010.
I am all for environmental responsibility but these types of things should be phased in over a period of time to minimize the economic shock to people and the economy, especially in these times. It appears that Fascism is running rampant at the EPA.
Congress continues to lose its way:
WASHINGTON (AP) - A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion, over the objections of some lawmakers who said Congress has meatier targets to tackle.
The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff. The measure passed by voice vote in a House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee, with one audible “no,” from Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga.
“With all due respect, I really think we have more important things to spend our time on,” Barrow said before the vote, although he stressed he didn’t like the current Bowl Championship Series, either.
To Representative Barrows assertions, I say “yes” and “yes”.
Anyone for some Arctic roll? Mystery as spiral blue light display hovers above Norway
By Mail Foreign Service What’s blue and white, squiggly and suddenly appears in the sky?
If you know the answer, pop it on a postcard and send it to the people of Norway, where this mysterious light display baffled residents yesterday.
Speculation was increasing today that the display was the result of an embarrassing failed test launch of a jinxed new Russian missile.
The Bulava missile was test-fired from the Dmitry Donskoi submarine in the White Sea early on Wednesday but failed at the third stage, say newspapers in Moscow today.
Strange spiral: Residents in northern Norway were left stunned after the lightshow, which almost looked computer-generated, appeared in the skies above them
Curious: A blue-green beam of light was reported to have come shooting out the centre of the spiral
This emerged despite earlier reports denying a missile launch yesterday. Even early today there was no formal confirmation from the Russian Defence Ministry.
The light appears to be unconnected with the aurora borealis, or northern lights, the natural magnetic phenomena that can often be viewed in that part of the world.
The mystery began when a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain in the north of the country. It stopped mid-air, then began to move in circles. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky.
WOW!

December 8, 2009 Breaking News
8. December 2009 by Glenn.
Quote of the Day:
“The view is so much better from inside the bus than under it,”
–Sarah Palin referring to the difference between her current book tour and the relations between her and some of the McCain campaign staff
OUTRAGE:
HUFFINGTON POST: Ben Bernanke [Chairman of the Federal Reserve] has overseen the greatest expansion of the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet in its history, pouring trillions of dollars into Wall Street firms at roughly zero interest rates.
His generosity, however, has a limit.
In testimony before the Senate Banking Committee today, where he’s seeking re-appointment as the Fed’s chairman, Bernanke called for cutbacks in Medicare and Social Security…
Bernanke reminded Congress that it has the power to repeal Social Security and Medicare.
“It’s only mandatory until Congress says it’s not mandatory. And we have no option but to address those costs at some point or else we will have an unsustainable situation,” said Bernanke.
They are coming out of the woodwork after us. The way things are going, the life expectancy in this country should be dropping by at least 10 years by 2015, due to starvation or lack of medical care.
By the way, the $500,000,000,000.00 that the administration will strip out of Medicare will grow to a full $1 Trillion within 10 years according to the latest reports.
This is certainly no country for old people. Move over, kids.
Breaking News:
The other day when I said that the reason that the secret service didn’t do background checks on the party crashers was that they may have eliminated them because most of the guests at the state dinner couldn’t pass them anyway. How little did I know?
It turns out that there was a convicted felon at the party. He happens to be the husband of a Chicago congresswoman and his name is Robert Creamer. He was involved with a sister organization of ACORN when the FBI started checking on him and he was subsequently indicted on 16 counts of bank fraud and pled down and was convicted of one count of bank fraud, a federal felony, and served a year and a half in federal prison and house arrest.
When he was in prison, he wrote a book called “Listen to your mother; Stand up Straight. How Progressives can Win.”
It was dedicated to Saul Alinsky, the communist organizer.
As soon as Cremer got out of prison, he was hired by the Obama campaign.
It appears that Obama is following this plan with little variation.
The following points are from his book on how to get universal health care through. (By the way, I watched his wife in a speech wherein she related a story of a conversation with a member of the insurance industry on universal health care. She said the man protested that the universal health care would kill the insurance industry and she said: “You know what? He was right!!”)
- Create a national consensus that health care is a right, not a commodity
- Create a national consensus that the health care is in crisis
- Our messaging program for the next two years should concentrate on diminishing the health care and insurance industry.
- We need to systematically forge relationships with large groups in the business community.
- We need to convince political leaders that their future is based on passing universal health care and that to fail will create serious consequences for their ongoing political career.
- We do not need to agree in advance on the bill but to develop something that we can formulate once passed.
- Over the next two years we have to organize and implement a national field program
- We must focus on mobilizing the labor movement and the faith community to support us.
- We must systematically create the actual coalitions of power in the field to spread distrust, loathing and fear.
- We must put In place the money necessary to fund the field operations.
David Axelrod, Obama’s top advisor, says this book is a blue print for future democratic victory.
Do you recognize that this is exactly what is happening in this country with health care?
Folks, this bill is going to pass. They are arguing over abortion rights now but it is a distraction. I think we have waited too long to be heard.
So our country’s future is being determined by a convicted felon.
A little jab at the congress:
If you are for making congress live with the same health care bill that they are jamming down our throat, go to this website and vote.
http://fleming.house.gov/index.html
Observations:
The last good thing that will come from the government has happened at the EPA. They just declined to authorize the increase in ethanol in gasoline from 10% to 15%, citing the possibility of increased emissions and engine damage in older vehicles.
Ethanol, even in its current percentage causes some damage in engines. Newer vehicles have been re-engineered to limit that damage. And don’t even think about Methanol because it is highly corrosive.
It is also important that we don’t increase the percentage of ethanol because it is primarily distilled from corn, which is used in a tremendous array of foods and drove up food prices a year or two ago when the big push was on. It does not make sense to use a foodstuff to create energy products.
And if things weren’t bad enough for Tiger Woods, an alleged 7th concubine has crawled out of the woodpile, a porn actress, no less.
It appears that his parents ignored some important parts of that boy’s education.
Word has it that his wife has moved out. I suspect that the list of liaisons has grown to the point where her lawyer has informed her that there is no reason to wait
seven years to collect $80 million when she can move out now and collect $250 million.
The EPA has just declared that carbon dioxide and 5 other green house gases are dangerous to human health and It appears that the EPA has given itself permission to regulate greenhouse gasses in the U.S.; taking it out of the hands of congress, and just in time for Obama to brag at the climate summit. They don’t need to move the cap and trade through congress anymore. They just decree that it will be. We are soooo screwed!
With one deft maneuver, the administration has turned us into a third world country, politically. Folks, we may have held our peace too long. It is beginning to appear that it is too late to stop these people.
It is estimated that just one year of regulating CO2 will negatively affect the GDP by $600 Billion.
How’s that hopey/changey thing working out for you now?
And you people are worried about jobs! The president isn’t.
Obamamath!!!!! You gotta love it. According to the gunsel’s own website, the stimulus package created or saved 640,329 jobs since its inception. Based on the $157.8 Billion awarded so far, that works out at $246,436.00 per job.
The average payroll employee in November, annualized, collected $59, 867.00.
If the genius’s in the administration would have simply had simply used the funds awarded so far to pay for a year’s worth of labor, which would have paid for 2.6mn jobs!
And these people are going to hold life and death decisions over you and your health care! Well, except for seniors. They won’t have any healthcare, but they are a drag on the government anyway.
ACORN hired a law firm to investigate their offices and the law firm reported they found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Given ACORN’s propensity for dumping records into the dumpster out back prior to them being subpoenaed, is this really a surprise?
Expect the administration to use this to justify their support for ACORN. ACORN and its big brother, the SEIU are the two biggest supporters of the health care plan so Obama really needs them.
Some 40,000 tons of carbon will be spewed getting this climate summit crowd together and keeping them in comfort.
That is the daily amount of carbon dioxide produced by 30 of the world’s smaller countries, according to UN statistics.
Don’t you just love it?
Harry Reid lashes out at Republicans:
FOX NEWS: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago.
The Nevada Democrat, in a sweeping set of accusations on the Senate floor, also compared health care foes to those who opposed women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement – even though it was Sen. Strom Thurmond, then a Democrat, who unsuccessfully tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and it was Republicans who led the charge against slavery.
Senate Republicans on Monday called Reid’s comments “offensive” and “unbelievable.”
But Reid argued that Republicans are using the same stalling tactics employed in the pre-Civil War era.
“Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, ’slow down, stop everything, let’s start over.’ If you think you’ve heard these same excuses before, you’re right,” Reid said Monday. “When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said ’slow down, it’s too early, things aren’t bad enough.’” Uh, Harry. Those would be southern democrats.
For some reason, democrats continually use this type of blame fabrication. I have run into this before, even when dealing with editors of newspapers. When I call them on it, they change the subject.
They seem to rely on the fact that others are too dumb to challenge them and for most of my life, they were right. Since I have been researching and writing this newsletter, I have taken great delight in pointing out some of their errors, much to their chagrin. Try it sometime. It can be an entertaining pastime.
Oh, and Harry? As far as joining you and being on the right side of history? That is your definition of bi-partisanship. You decide how it is going to be and invite your opponents to agree with you. Not one republican was let into the room where you wrote the bill. It was given to them and they were told that this was it!
Fortunately, Harry is in deep trouble in Nevada. Hopefully we won’t have to put up with him for much longer. He trails a virtually unknown 1 term republican legislator female, 41-51.
Pelosi endorses a global tax:
(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) endorsed the idea of a “global” tax on stock trades and other financial transactions, saying the estimated $150 billion in annual revenue from such a tax could be used to help fund more stimulus spending. At her weekly press briefing on Thursday, Pelosi said the financial transactions
tax (HR4191) currently before Congress would have to be made “global” to keep U.S. investors from taking their business overseas and out of taxable reach.
Someone needs to take this broad home and put her in a room. She is just bouncing off walls. The stress has taken its toll.
She is correct though, in that investors will take their business to exchanges in other countries if they are taxed here.
I missed the part about how she was going to get other countries to tax their citizens when we can’t even get major polluters to sign onto cutting their green house gas emissions. (even after inviting them to dinner)
Researchers identify heart attack trigger:
LONDON (UPI) — Scientists in Britain have identified the trigger leading to arterial damage caused by atherosclerosis, the disease that causes heart attacks and strokes. Researchers at Imperial College London say the findings suggest the condition could potentially be treated by blocking the molecule that triggers the damage. The research also suggests bacteria may be playing a part in the disease. Dr. Claudia Monaco says plaques form in arteries that feed the brain and heart, obstructing the blood flow. The plaques are made of substances like fatty deposits and cholesterol. Immune cells are attracted into these plaques, which form inside the wall of the artery, leading to the artery becoming inflamed and to the artery wall being damaged. Sometimes, the plaque can burst as a result of this damage, causing a stroke or heart attack. The trigger identified is the molecule TLR-2, a “receptor” molecule that lives on the surface of an immune cell. When it recognizes harmful molecules and cells, including bacteria, it switches the immune cell into attack mode to protect the body. It can also switch on the immune cells when the body is under stress, Monaco says. The study, published in the journal Circulation, finds that in laboratory tests, blocking the TLR-2 receptor stopped cells from making the molecules that cause inflammation and damage to the artery — suggesting that the molecule is triggering the damage to the artery.

December 6, 2009 - Observation of the day
6. December 2009 by Glenn.
True to their definition below, the yellow rats, including the head yellow rat, are congregating behind closed doors this week-end to try to coerce their fellow democrats into siding with them in the wholesale destruction of this country.
When one considers that the administration has made back door deals with the pharmaceutical industry, doctors, hospitals, AARP and until recently, the insurance industry, to spare them the pain of new regulations and help insure their profits, one wonders what the health care bill will really accomplish, except for a huge bureaucracy to run it, increased taxes to pay for it and increased control over the populace by the federal government.
The administration, by their very actions and backdoor dealing, admits that they don’t give a damn about how the bill comes out or whether it works or not. It is only important that it gets passed. The huge cost will help bring this country to its knees.
Why else would they be telling you the ten year cost of the bill is a Trillion dollars when in reality, that cost is either for 6 years or 5 years,
depending on which bill you look at? So, not counting inflation, the bill will cost us twice as much as they are telling us.
There is another reason that Obama is delaying the bill until the 2012 elections are over. If the bill were to take effect in 2010, there would be no way in hell that he would ever see a second term. However, the damage would have already been done and once you institutionalize health care, it is pretty well there to stay, whether it works or not.
Take a little time today, folks and email your congress person and tell them what is awaiting them if they vote for this bill.
God Bless,
Glenn

December 5, 2009 Breaking News
5. December 2009 by Glenn.
Today’s link is an article on what could be the latest backdoor deal by the Obama administration. I reported on a back door deal between Obama and GE’s Chairman of the Board about six months ago. This is the newest twist to that.
http://biggovernment.com/2009/12/04/comcast-nbc-deal-does-the-mergers-approval-rest-on-health-care/
The fix is in again!
Quote of the Day:
“To avoid the necessity of a permanent debt and its inevitable consequences, I have advocated and endeavored to carry into effect the policy of confining the appropriations for the public service to such objects only as are clearly with the constitutional authority of the Federal Government.” –Martin Van Buren (1782-1862) 8th President of the United States
What a concept!
Observations:
I received an email from a reader yesterday regarding the medical issues of aspartame in diet drinks and other food products. There has been some evidence for years that this could cause problems in some, if not all, people.
Since I do not get into medical issues, except to alert you to them, I am including the URL of a list of books that you might want to check out. Also, look up info under “Sweet Poison”. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=sweet+poison&tag=googhydr-20&index=stripbooks&hvadid=4146566995&ref=pd_sl_57iq1l78vt_b
Thanx, Nora
Think about it. The Medicare Trustees are saying the trust fund will be broke by 2017. Now, a lot of people have been paying payroll taxes into that fund for a lot of years and are starting to collect.
The Obama/Pelosi/Reid combine comes along and instead of fixing it, guts the program in order to give money to people to subsidize their insurance and who haven’t been paying into a fund or paying for insurance. Where is the fairness, or the compassion, as the progressives like to say, in that?
They are taxing the public about $500,000,000,000.00 and taking another $464,000,000,000.00 from senior health care. So they are taxing 93% of the people so that 7% of the people can benefit. Ironically, this could put more seniors on the street without healthcare than the 7% of the people that might benefit.
Stock in my Soylent Green factory, anyone?
Say what you will about Sarah Palin; she was smart enough to seize the moment and write a book, which is a run-away best seller, before she really did anything. I would have never thought to do that.
I don’t know what all of the brouhaha is over the gate crashers at the White House reception of the Indian president.
No enemy in their right mind would attempt to kill the president. He is doing a far better job of finishing us off than they ever could.
Have you heard about Obama’s latest foreign policy victory? After all of the schmoozing of the Indian prime minister at the gala White House reception, as well as jawboning on emission reductions, India has now said that it will not accept a legally binding emission cut nor a peak year of carbon emissions at the global climate talks in Copenhagen, according to Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday.
Have you ever wondered about why Denmark is the center for the green conferences? Despite Denmark’s reputation as an environmentally conscious country, very few Danes are green. In fact, Danes are bigger polluters than the Dutch. In 2006, the average Dane was good for a yearly carbon dioxide equivalent emission of 13 tons, while the average Dutch-person only emitted 12.7 tons, according to figures from the European Environmental Agency in Copenhagen.
I am beginning to realize that most of the things that I have taken for granted in my life are a freaking scam!
Two Hollywood conservatives (yes, there are some) and members of the Academy, have called on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to rescind the prestigious, profitable gold Oscar statuette that it gave ex-Vice President Al Gore two years ago for the environmental movie “An Inconvenient Truth.” How the heck about that?
It ain’t gonna happen, folks.
The Governator showed a map of California yesterday that showed what would happen with global warning in a hundred years. He said parts of San Francisco could be under water.
Two things Guv: First, you are a little late getting on the global warming band wagon and secondly, if and when it happens, I hope Pelosi is home.
Evidently, Bill Ayers, the Weather Underground radical that is a buddy of Obama’s is having a falling out with Obama over the Afghanistan issue, calling Obama a “conservative war hawk”.
I don’t think that is the case at all. I think Obama is finding out what is really happening in the world and found that he is caught in this and the political price of walking away is steeper than the price of staying in.
And if things weren’t bad enough with this global warming crap, the mayor of Copenhagen has sent out a communication to the delegates of the global warming conference, suggesting that they abstain from visiting Copenhagen’s own cottage industry, the Hookers.
When the Hookers found out about this, they got so angry that they are now advertising that if you have an official invitation to the global warming conference, that all services are on the house. How’s that for entrepreneurial?
It’s a small world:
THE COMMERCIAL APPEAL: Memphis–In the opinion of Arlington Mayor Russell Wiseman, President Barack Obama’s speech on Tuesday night on the war in Afghanistan was deliberately timed to block the Christian message of the “Peanuts” television Christmas special.
Apparently, my good buddy and fellow reader, known as the “Appalachian American” (author, role model for Johnny Depp as the Pirate as well as distiller extraordinaire in Thunder Road, and well known in several erudite circles as well as a few nefarious ones) has been sending my newsletter to the mayor of Arlington Tennessee.
That’s OK. While I don’t believe it was anything but a ham handed, self centered move on Obama’s part, as long as the mayor is a conservative, he is free to use my ideas.
Wisconsin again:
DULUTH NEWS TRIBUNE: Jeremy Engelking will appear in Douglas County court this afternoon to face a trespassing charge. But here’s the kicker: The Superior (Wisconsin) man allegedly trespassed on his own property.
Engelking, 27, aimed to hunt deer Wednesday morning when he noticed a pipeline crew on his land. He hopped on his ATV and told workers they had no right to be on his property because he had received no compensation from Enbridge Energy Partners L.P. for an easement.
Engelking said workers told him he was in an unsafe place and asked him to come to an equipment staging area, where he continued to argue his case.
But just as he was turning to leave, Engelking said an officer from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene and approached with a Taser drawn.
“He ordered me to ‘get down on the ground now!’ And he said that I was being arrested for trespassing,” Engelking said.
When Engelking protested, pointing out that he was on his own property, he said Sgt. Robert Smith told him: “It doesn’t matter. You’re going to jail. You can tell it to a judge tomorrow.”
Is it just me, or are government officials getting a lot nastier with the populace?
At the hands of the 4th Grade class once again:
DETROIT (AdAge.com) — Chrysler Group’s Olivier Francois, the president-CEO of the Chrysler vehicle brand, has tapped Armando Testa, his ad agency for Italian Lancia, to refashion a Lancia commercial for the U.S. market. Hiring an Italian agency for the work may not sit well with American taxpayers, who bailed out the ailing Chrysler earlier this year with billions of dollars in loans. And all of the several hundreds of staffers of Chrysler Group’s longtime ad agency, BBDO Detroit, will be out of work at the end of January when the contract expires.
So what’s the big deal? It is obvious that ad agencies aren’t unionized so why would the owners of Chrysler (the unions) and Obama care?
Houston, Texas
Global Warming update:
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Michigan’s first lake effect snow storm set up shop right over Kent County and dumped snow there all day long.
The snow caught a number of people off guard, with about five to six inches accumulating in Grand Rapids. The 5.5 inches of snow fall set a new record for the date in Grand Rapids, but those totals don’t compare to snowfalls of over a foot to the north and west of the city.
More Global Warming:
THE HILL: The U.N.’s decision this week to investigate whether some of its climate change research had been manipulated constitutes a “direct rebuke” of the Obama administration, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Friday.
The White House’s unwillingness to open a similar inquiry could now only be characterized as “a sad abdication of their responsibility to ensure that U.S. policies are not driven by corrupted science and data,” the congressman added.
“The very integrity of the report that the Obama administration has predicated much of its climate change policy has been called into question and it is unconscionable that this administration and Congress is willing to abdicate responsibility of uncovering the truth to the United Nations,” explained Issa, the ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Still more on Global Warming:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Colleen O’Boyle at 703.683.5004 www.crcpublicrelations.com
Alexandria, VA – For the fourteenth straight day, the three broadcast networks have failed to report on the great and growing ClimateGate scandal on their weekday morning or evening news programs. How to explain this? Perhaps it is that ABC, NBC and CBS have not yet heard of the story, despite two weeks of non-stop reporting on and discussion of ClimateGate in a whole host of media outlets. Perhaps the broadcast networks only trust their fellow liberal press outlets, like the New York Times. Perhaps they don’t realize the Times exhibited journalistic diligence on ClimateGate, with a front page story the day the story broke.
Parliamentary Speaker: Climate debate derailed?
POLITIKEN DK: The Speaker of the Danish Parliament has issued a damning criticism of the climate debate, saying politicians gullibly turn theories into facts.
As the world prepares to converge on Copenhagen for the COP15 Climate Summit, Denmark’s Speaker of Parliament has expressed serious doubts as to the way in which the climate debate has developed.
“The problem is that lots of people go around saying that the climate change we see is a result of human activity. That is a very dangerous claim,” Parliamentary Speaker and former Finance Minister Thor Pedersen (Lib) tells DR.
“Unfortunately I seem to experience that scientists say: ‘We have a theory’ – then that crosses the road to the politicians who say: ‘We know’. Who can be bothered to hear a scientist who says ‘I have a theory’ when politicians go around saying ‘I know’” Thor Pedersen says.
No temperature rise Thor Pedersen adds that the temperature has not risen in the past decade.
“I’m not saying that in the decade that the temperature has fallen or stagnated is enough to evaluate developments. But one should only say what one knows,” the Speaker adds.
“You should say that although we believed in our models, that the temperature would rise from 1998 to 2008, we have to admit that it has not risen. We cannot explain why it has not risen, but we believe we still have a problem. I’m just asking that people say what they actually know,” Pedersen tells DR.
Pedersen says that a major challenge is how to ensure energy and food to cater for the major population growth the world will be experiencing, and that the COP15 Climate Summit could result in an agreement that reduces the pressure on the Earth.
“We should all shake hands and agree to do everything possible to create good living conditions. That has nothing to do with the climate debate, in which we try to determine the globe’s temperature. It is common sense,” Thor Pedersen says in his interview with DR.
This is so good folks. Now you don’t have just me crying out for sanity, you have a reasonable man saying the same thing; not that I mean to say that I am not a reasonable man.
Black Panthers defend Obama administration;
Charges against New Black Panthers Dropped by Obama Justice Department
11-04-2008: Black Panthers Block GOP Access to Philadelphia Poll
DALLAS (AP) - The leader of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense says the U.S. Justice Department was right to drop a voter intimidation suit against his group because the case was weak.
New Black Panther Party National Chairman Malik Shabazz says recent attempts to question that ruling are nothing more than a “political witch hunt” Republicans are waging against Attorney General Eric Holder.
Shabazz says his group does not condone voter intimidation and suspended the member who stood outside a Philadelphia polling place with a nightstick during last year’s presidential election.
The Justice Department filed an injunction against that man.
Shabazz says he wants to set the record straight as the group’s three-day national summit begins in Dallas Friday.
Are you finally starting to get an idea of who your president really is?
Max Baucus nominates Girlfriend:
BILLINGS GAZETTE: Billings MT—Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus was romantically involved with a former staffer when he recommended her earlier this year to become the next U.S. attorney for Montana, a spokesman said.
The Montana Democrat and his former state director Melodee Hanes began their relationship in the summer of 2008 after Baucus separated from his wife, Ty Matsdorf said in a statement Friday night, confirming a report in Roll Call.
Baucus nominated Hanes for the U.S. attorney post in March. But she later withdrew, saying she had been presented with other opportunities she couldn’t pass up.
Nothing like a high paying job to keep a congressional cutie coming back. You remember Max, don’t you? He is the one that wrote the Senate version of the health care bill. He needs to be sent home!
Don’t let down your guard,
Glenn

December 3, 2009 - Breaking News
3. December 2009 by Glenn.
Today’s attachment is a warning about a new internet scam. SCAM ALERT: H1N1 E-mail. It is a little tardy because I forgot to send it out the other day and I also thought you people would be too smart to fall for it. Thanx, Bunk
Quote of the Day:
“For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.” — H. L. Mencken (1880-1956) - American Newspaperman, essayist, author
Well, the democrats have been able to negate that observation with a health care bill that is complicated, convoluted, sloppy and wrong.
Quote of the Day II:
“Never before has a speech by President Barack Obama felt as false as his Tuesday address announcing America’s new strategy for Afghanistan. It seemed like a campaign speech combined with Bush rhetoric — and left both dreamers and realists feeling distraught.”
–Der Spiegel, German Newspaper
Call for action:
The senate is moving towards a vote on the health care bill. You can’t let up on this now.
I have been saying for nearly a year that this bill is not about health care; it is about centralizing control with the federal government. The people, including the so-called unfortunates that the dems say would be served by this bill are already getting health care through Medicaid and other state sponsored programs. You haven’t heard of anyone dying in the streets lately of untreated medical problems, have you?
Do you think that those gang members in the” hood” in Chicago have insurance? You and Obama know that they don’t.
Yet when they end up with a bullet or two in them, they get great medical treatment.
This is important folks. If the health care bill passes, it will be the cornerstone of a new and disastrous political regime in America. If you value this country at all, for yourself and your kids, please don’t stop letting congress know what you plan to do to them at the polls if they vote for this bill.
Also, keep in mind that if Obama is successful in this effort, he will strip at least $500 Billion from Medicare. If your parents are still alive, they will come to live with you!
Observations:
The 4th grade class just keeps screwing up… Obama is holding his big job summit today. He has invited members of private industry along with the usual suspect unions. The reason for this is that he wants private industry to shoulder part of the bill; a sure sign that he is running out of other people’s money.
Whom he didn’t invite is the some of the major trade organizations, such as the National Association of Manufacturers and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. You remember them; they are on Obama’s enemies list.
They have also proposed some job creation ideas such as enactment of stalled free-trade deals that they say would boost exports, which are opposed by Obama’s unions, who will be heavily represented at the job summit.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, said “What I find a bit ironic to me is they were able to figure out how to help the big banks without any summit, but now that they are talking about helping people, it is a year later and they need a summit.”
By the way, the unions are pushing for calling for direct funding of federal public works jobs, another round of aid to cash-strapped states and cities and funding for infrastructure projects.
Apparently, Obama, in his childhood of limited experience, thinks that there are only lawyers and construction workers in this country. We need to come up with a way to stimulate small business across the board, to create jobs.
However, no amount of stimulation will help if Obama doesn’t quit the huge spending bills with cap and trade and health care. These are nation-breaking bills and business, large or small, won’t go out on a limb without assurance that they are dead and we are going to have a rational monetary policy.
Obama spilled the beans Thursday night by giving the Taliban a timetable that he was going to start pulling troops in 18 months. We will see if the Taliban is smart enough to step back and wait or if we are smart enough to go after them and hunt them all down within the next 18 months.
The Dems appear to be quite nervous about this. Even Albert Murtha of “Murtha’s murderers” fame is skeptical about the chances of winning this thing in 18 months.
In fact, he said, upon returning from his trip to Afghanistan a couple of days ago, that he is not even sure what would constitute a victory in Afghanistan.
Coming from Murtha, I think that observation is uncharacteristically clear- headed thinking for him.
Did anyone see Chris Matthews on MSNBC last night? He has absolutely jumped the shark! He called West Point the “enemy camp” in his wonderment that Obama would go to such a place to deliver a speech.
Uh, Chris; He is the commander in chief!
Phil Jones, the head scientist at the Climatic Research Unit that you learned about in yesterday’s attachment has agreed to step aside during the investigation of the charges of scientific fraud. Note that he hasn’t agreed to resign, only to step aside for the moment. He will be taking notes and if he isn’t tarred and feathered, he will be back to wreck havoc on anyone who had a bad thing to say about him.
Jones had been accused of manipulating data to support his research.
Many pointed to an e-mail in which Jones writes that he had used a “trick” to “hide the decline” in recent global temperatures.
Senator Jim Inhofe, ranking member of the Senate Environmental Committee has asked Chairman Barbara Boxer, D-CA, to open an investigation into the Climate debacle.
Among items that he listed as very disturbing were emails that stated; “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming and it is a travesty that we can’t.” Another stated;
“I tried hard to balance the needs of the science and the IPCC, which were not always the same”.
Inhofe also noted that there appeared to be “a campaign to vilify scientists who question global warming alarmism.”
As if Boxer is really going to open an investigation into something she doesn’t want to know about. I will be very surprised. However, they are pros at launching fatally compromised investigations.
Pelosi is taking care of us again. In the past three months, she has spent nearly $3,000.00 on flowers, $2,700.00+ on bottled water and over $30,000.00 on food and beverage; all taxpayer money.
But no cake for the rest of us?
The District of Columbia’s Office of Unified Communications used its government-issued charge card to buy $900 worth of massages for its staff, an expense even Mayor Adrian Fenty deemed inappropriate.
There apparently is risk being located so close to congress…
The Board of Directors at General Federal Motors (you remember them, don’t you? The company owned by you, me and the Unions?) has cut president and CEO Fritz Henderson loose. Word has it that he is taking the hit for the failed sales of Saab, Saturn and the still uncompleted sale of Hummer.
My question is, since the government has imposed compensation limits on executives, where are they going to find a competent individual to take the job of rebuilding General Motors for $500,000 per year? Another 4th grade class snafu?
So the great climate e-mail fiasco has drawn blood on the other side of the world.
Australian Liberal leader Malcolm Turnbull has been replaced by a climate skeptic, Tony Abbott, after ten of its most senior politicians resigned over its support for the Government’s plans for fighting global warming.
Things are heating up, folks
The libs are at it again with the euphemisms. Howard Dean ( you remember him? Old Yeeeehhhaaaa!?) in a speech in Paris told us the new Obama term, “Communitarianism”! How’s that for a new slant on good old communism?
He also said he was stunned because for the first time in the history of the U.S. the youth generation was multi-cultural and he said that it was stunning for him, being a product of the 50’s and all.
Well, Howie, all I can say is that if multiculturalism is still stunning to you, you must be one hell of a closet racist!
More stunning revelations:
WASHINGTON EXAMINER: The United States is about to lose a key arms-control tool from the closing days of the Cold War — the right to station American observers in Russia to count the long-range missiles leaving its assembly line.
The end of full-time, on-site access will likely ignite complaints in Congress, with insiders from both parties arguing over whether the George W. Bush or the Obama administration is responsible.
Republicans are worried by the previously undisclosed agreement between the Obama administration and the Kremlin in October, which formalizes the inspectors’ departure this Saturday. This, they warn, would cripple Washington’s ability to police Moscow’s compliance with agreed reductions in its nuclear arsenal.
Democrats, on the other hand, insist they were “stuck” with an agreement reached late last year between the Bush administration and Moscow but not made public. This, they said, left the Obama team no choice.
So who is telling the truth, here? More on this, if I can find something.
This is just unbelievable:
THE HILL: Leaked e-mails allegedly undermining climate change science should be treated as a criminal matter, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said Wednesday afternoon. Boxer, the top Democrat on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said that the recently released e-mails, showing scientists allegedly overstating the case for climate change, should be treated as a crime. “You call it ‘Climategate’; I call it ‘E-mail-theft-gate,’” she said during a committee meeting. “Whatever it is, the main issue is, Are we facing global warming or are we not? I’m looking at these e-mails, that, even though they were stolen, are now out in the public.”
Hell hath no fury like a congresswoman caught in a major lie?
While the dems pretend that this is a nation of laws, it appears that it is only a nation of laws for conservatives. When it comes to things like illegal immigration, they just choose not to enforce them. But now they want to prosecute someone for revealing what may be the single largest fraud in the history of the world?
Penn State Will Investigate ‘Climategate’:
U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT: … The Penn State administration plans to investigate Climategate and determine if it needs to take further action, the Daily Collegian reports. A little
more than a week ago, E-mails exchanged among an English university’s climate change researchers were illegally obtained from a server and posted online, the report says.
Climate change opponents say the E-mails indicate that climate change researchers—including Penn State Prof. Michael Mann—exaggerated or fabricated global warming data. And, according to the report, some E-mails indicate that the director of the research unit in question may have contacted researchers and asked them to “delete certain E-mails.”
Australia’s Parliament defeats global warming bill:
SYDNEY – Australia’s plans for an emissions trading system to combat global warming were scuttled Wednesday in Parliament, handing a defeat to a government that had hoped to set an example at international climate change talks next week.
The Senate, where Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s government does not hold a majority, rejected his administration’s proposal for Australia to become one of the first countries to install a so-called cap-and-trade system to slash the amount of heat-trapping pollution that industries pump into the air.
It appears that the wheels are coming off what might be the single largest fraud ever perpetrated on the citizens of this world.
Obama Overexposed:
WASHINGTON TIMES: After months of what some critics called overexposure, President Obama has of late avoided questions from the White House press corps at large, closing the Oval Office to traditionally informal question-and-answer sessions with reporters and pulling back from the fast pace of news conferences he established when taking office.
I find this interesting in that one of the “new” programs that Obama brought to the White House was the “permanent campaign”. Most politicians campaign until they win an election and then quit until time to do it all over again.
Obama never quit. Moreover, he has introduced permanent campaigning to policy points. That is why we have been inundated by him ever since he took office. Personally, I cannot bear to watch him anymore. As hard as I try, as soon as he starts with the vapid, empty generalities, my eyes glaze over and I am gone.
However, I think that the administration is making him unavailable because of a backlash to him bumping ” A Charlie Brown Christmas” last night.
P.S. Charlie Brown will be on next week.
Dems still working toward controlling the media:
BREITBART: The newspaper industry is suffering “market failure” and the government will need to help preserve serious journalism essential to democracy, an influential US congressman said Wednesday.
“The newspapers my generation has taken for granted are facing a structural threat to the business model that has sustained them,” said Representative Henry Waxman, a Democrat from California.
Henry Waxman is just plain dangerous.
Makes sense to Me:
“If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers. The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq. Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington. — Australian Shooter Magazine (Thanx P.J.)
Keep ‘em on their toes,
Glenn

Definition for new readers: Yellow rat democrats, as opposed to Blue Dog Democrats, or just Democrats, are so named because they behave like yellow rats; they are sneaky, they have no rules that they live by except to get what they want by any means necessary and they run for cover when someone shines a light on them. Yellow Rat Democrats draw primarily from the so-called “progressive” democrats.

Climate Change: The worst scientific scandal of our generation
Obama spilled the beans last night by giving the Taliban a timetable that he was going to start pulling troops in 18 months.
Among items that he listed as very disturbing were emails that stated; “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming and it is a travesty that we can’t.” Another stated;
However, they are pros at launching compromised investigations.
Well, Howie, all I can say is that if multiculturalism is still stunning to you, you must be one hell of a racist!
More on this if I can find something.
