January 21, 2010 Breaking News

If democrats can lose in Massachusetts, they can lose anywhere! Well, except maybe in Minnesota.

Now Chlidren, our lesson for today is…

That those with the private 737’s make the rules?

Quote(s) of the Day:

“Our leadership is “whistling past the graveyard” if they think Brown’s win won’t force a rethinking of the health care plan.” Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)

“… the party needs to rethink its entire approach to governing.” Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.)

The party may start thinking about a new approach to governing but Obama won’t.

“The results prove that unhappiness with political leaders has “gone mainstream” and could hit anyone.” Rep. Jason Altmire (D-Pa.)

What I find so amazing is that so many democrats are finally speaking out for the first time in the Obama era. I think Obama really had a lot of them intimidated…or, they are just rats leaving a listing ship.

“We’re not in a big rush” on health care, “Pause, reflect.”

Nancy Pelosi, January 20, 2010

Huh?

Observations:

Wow! Within 2 ½ hours of learning about Scott Brown’s victory, my fever broke. Judging from the severity of my affliction, I did suspect that I had contracted L1D1 (Liberal Democrat flu that acts on conservatives as anti-matter does on matter)

As heartening as Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts is, it will be pretty much be business as usual with some exceptions. First, we aren’t going to get rid of Pelosi without a Republican landslide in the house with 40 dems losing their seat, which is unlikely. She has also said that regardless of what happened in Massachusetts, she plans to jam the healthcare monstrosity down our throats.

The good news is, lost though it may be on Pelosi, that the Massachusetts vote apparently gave Obama a little religion. He has apparently been disabused of rushing a vote on the health care bill through before Scott Brown is seated.

However, with a guy like Obama, a set- back makes him more dangerous than ever. I somehow get the feeling that he is very angry with the American public because he takes this repudiation personally; And you thought his administration lacked transparency before.

Somehow, we have lost our representative government. These people seem to think that because they were elected to office, we have given them carte blanche to do what they want.

What is more important about all of this is that it is not just about the health care bill. The polls consistently report that the independents are not happy with anything that Washington is doing.

Put me in that category! It appears that this nation wasn’t as ready for Marxism as the 4th grade class thought.

All this good news notwithstanding, the sad fact still remains that the alternative ain’t all that great either. I still hold the Republicans responsible for paving the way for a guy to get elected that wants to turn this great nation into a banana republic.

The Republicans in congress during the past decade were a disgrace to the office they held. It is of great concern to me that if the republicans should gain control in 2012 that they will return to their irresponsible ways in congress. Maybe we ought to throw a bunch of them out for good measure.

And if things weren’t bad enough, Russia’s central bank announced that they have began buying Canadian dollars in a move to diversify their foreign exchange reserves and move away from the U.S. dollar and into commodity linked currencies like the Canadian and Australian dollar. The dollar has dropped 12% on a trade-weighted basis since March.

Oh, and did I mention, the dems are after an increase of $1.9 Trillion to the debt limit? The dems still have big plans for what little money you have left.

And if things weren’t bad enough, President Barack Obama will appear with politically embattled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in Las Vegas next month, according to a White House official.

I think that this could be a dangerous move for Obama. If Reid tanks, it will drive another nail into Obama’s coffin of ineffectiveness. I suspect he is following Bill Clinton’s advice, who recently told him that the worst thing that he could do is do nothing. Depending on Clinton’s motives, this could be deliciously subtle.

And if this isn’t enough, Hugo Chavez has now accused the U.S. of detonating a weapon near Haiti that caused the earthquakes…

This should be in the history books by next week. I know. Last week, I chatted with a high school history teacher and he said that Haiti was the U.S’s fault.

I am not liking this one bit. The supreme court has struck down significant portions of the McCain Feingold bill that has to do with outlawing corporate contributions. While I am a great 1st amendment supporter, I do not consider corporations natural citizens.

Obama questions our intelligence-Twice Thrice Four Times: ABC NEWS: President Obama said today that he believes he lost a direct connection to the American people in his first year in office because he focused too heavily on policymaking.

“If there’s one thing that I regret this year is that we were so busy just getting stuff done and dealing with the immediate crises that were in front of us that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are and why we have to make sure those institutions are matching up with those values,”

Obama told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview at the White House.

The president said he made a mistake in assuming that if he focused on policy decisions, the American people would understand the reasoning behind them. Folks, the mistake he made is assuming we wouldn’t understand the reasoning behind his policy decisions. This is so arrogant.

“That I do think is a mistake of mine,” Obama said. “I think the assumption was if I just focus on policy, if I just focus on this provision or that law or if we’re making a good rational decision here, then people will get it.”

Instead, the president said the American people ended up with a “feeling of remoteness and detachment” from the policymakers in Washington who are making big decisions. How many ways can one man say that we are too stupid to understand what he is doing? That horse’s ass is putting the blame for Massachusetts on us!

“I think, you know, what they ended up seeing is this feeling of remoteness and detachment where there’s these technocrats up here making decisions. Maybe some of them are good, maybe some of them aren’t, but do they really get us and what we’re going through?” he said.

Lost touch, my fanny. This guy is no fan of representative government and he could care less what we think unless it gets in the way of his agenda.

OK, here is where this guy really gets dangerous. He tried to jam his agenda down our throats and that is not working. Look for a whole new strategy. He will now attempt to ingratiate himself to the public before sticking the knife into the ribs on the other side.

“We’ll have to think through this next year from the standpoint of tactics but in substance the mission can’t change,”

President Obama to David Axelrod, Senior Advisor

New Job Claims jump “unexpectedly” in January:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A surprising jump in first-time claims for unemployment aid sent a painful reminder Thursday that jobs remain scarce six months into the economic recovery.

The surge in last week’s claims deflated hopes among some analysts that the economy would produce a net gain in jobs in January and help fuel the recovery.

Unexpected by who? I warned in November when the 4th grade class was all-atwitter with recovery rumors, that we would see a jump again in January.

It appears that Obama’s plan, either by design or accident is working just fine.

Feds to offer Temp legal status to 200,000 Haitians:

MIAMI HERALD: The Obama administration is preparing to handle applications from as many as 200,000 undocumented Haitian immigrants who want to live and work

legally in the United States under a new immigration program unveiled last week in the aftermath of Haiti’s destructive earthquake.

The federal government will begin accepting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) applications on Thursday, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas, whose agency will process the paperwork.

I’m taking bets on the prospect that they will never leave this country.

Wait until you read this:

LONDON TIMES: The UN’s top climate change body has issued an unprecedented apology over its flawed prediction that Himalayan glaciers were likely to disappear by 2035.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said yesterday that the prediction in its landmark 2007 report was “poorly substantiated” and resulted from a lapse in standards. “In drafting the paragraph in question the clear and well-established standards of evidence, required by the IPCC procedures, were not applied properly,” the panel said. “The chair, vice-chair and co-chairs of the IPCC regret the poor application of IPCC procedures in this instance.”

The stunning admission is certain to embolden critics of the panel, already under fire over a separate scandal involving hacked e-mails last year.

The 2007 report, which won the panel the Nobel Peace Prize, said that the probability of Himalayan glaciers “disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high”. It caused shock in Asia, where about two billion people depend on meltwater from Himalayan glaciers for their fresh water supplies during the dry seasons.

It emerged last week that the prediction was based not on a consensus among climate change experts but on a media interview with a single Indian glaciologist in 1999. That scientist, Syed Hasnain, has now told The Times that he never made such a specific forecast in his interview with the New Scientist magazine.

This is all such a bad joke!

Watch out, Folks

He gets more dangerous from here on in…

Definition for new readers: Yellow rat democrats, as opposed to Blue Dog Democrats, or just Democrats, are so named because they behave like yellow rats; they are sneaky, they have no rules that they live by except to get what they want by any means necessary and they run for cover when someone shines a light on them. Yellow Rat Democrats draw primarily from the so-called “progressive” democrats.

If you have watched the secrecy, lies and bribes that the democratic and house leaders have used to push the health care bill through, you understand what a yellow rat is.
